The more I think about the Amari trade the more I like it

Correct. If our plan is the same ol' schtick, then we are most definitely worse. All comes down to that.

However, if the plan is the same, releasing Coop was dumb. If the plan has changed, smart move.
We shall find out soon enough.

Which means nothing when he is the only WR target.

He also is playing with a qb who has shown a propensity to lock on one wr....
It'll mean something if they are winning and having success while are struggling and losing.

Remember when Dak averaged 202 yards passing a game before Cooper? Then 275 yards a game with Cooper? I remember.

I wouldn't have paid Gallup so much to stay. Honestly this team still doesn't get it with resigning players. You resign great players to large contracts not good players. Gallup is a good player, not great. Amari was a very good player, not great. Shultz is a good player, not great. I really hope they don't sign him to a long term deal. I would've had no problem letting them 2 walk. Shultz could be replaced with the pick we just made or McKeon. Tolbert is very comparable to Gallup and Cooper. Receivers are a dime a dozen as are tight ends. Now you get your hands or could get your hands on a TO or Moss or Gronk, or a game changer thats one thing but for the most part they could all be easily replaced. Besides Randy Moss the QB makes the receiver.
I don't like how our front office handled the situation at all.
You don't go public with your plans that he was not in our future.
It just killed his trade value.
This shows me that this front office is in over theirs heads.
They don't have the ability or the skill set to run this team
and its hurting us on the field.
It's one of the reasons why we are one of only 3 teams in the NFC not to go to the NFCC
in the last 25 years.

Well, when you're the guy getting all the attention it frees up everyone else to do their jobs much easier.
In 2018 he got this type of attention because he was lighting everyone up.

It never happened last year. It is very similar to Zeke's fall from grace...no one is playing the run bc of him. They are not scared of him.

Same with Amari, they weren't double covering him or anything legitimately dominant wr's get. Didn't happen. If you have evidence to the contrary, would love to see it.

Teams played off and loose on our offense. They stopped the run with even numbers or less and clogged the passing lanes in zone.

That was literally four years ago.

I agree, I’d rather have Cooper than not have him, especially considering the paltry return we got for him in the trade, but this team was cap strapped and he was the easiest to justify letting go.

Jimmie Ward after the 49ers game had this to say:

" But I feel like the defense just came out and we made more plays than they did. We were able to shut them down to 17 points. And how many rushing yards did they have? 77? Less than 100 yards. We went in there and did what we needed to do. Stop the run and force them to be one-dimensional and see if Prescott could win the game for them."

Here's another coach:

An AFC defensive coach said of Elliott: "They need to give Zeke some of Dak's money. He scares you the most on that offense."

You don't talk about great QBs like that. Dak's skills are not respected in NFL circles. I don't care what people say to the media when they give Dak props. The game plans show how much respect they have for him.

It was 4 years ago, you're right, and Cooper only missed 2 games in the 4 years.

We happened to lose both of them while Dak had 2 TDs, 2 INTS, and 2 FUMBLES combined in them.

Even after those 4 years Cooper being on the field mattered to Dak.

Ya i remember....you weren't around then but i was screaming for a legit target for him and everyone was brainlessly saying he sucked (sounds familiar) while i was breaking down each offensive play amd showing everyone how no one was even close to open.

We make the trade and magically we have the #1 offense for the rest of the year and really since then.

Hmmmm....who knows what they are talking about?

We have better weapons now and Dak is a better qb.

I know you don't agree but it is true.

LOL.

Literally doesn't back up your statement that Coop drew attention. Literally backs up mine.

So now you are saying Zeke should get a raise?

Try and stay on topic.

We'll see won't we?

You have your opinion and I have mine, but I believe this is the season where fans like yourself finally start to see the writing on the wall when it comes to Dak.

I guess you missed me saying this:

"The offense NEVER recovered after the Broncos shows that if you stop the run, don't blitz, play a lot of zone, then you shut this offense down. Of course, not every team can do that, but the ones that could did with great results. We have lost Cooper, Collins, and Wilson since then. Thinking that this offense will be better off without those guys is the real hot take."

That's what happens when you butt into the middle of an ongoing conversation without reading what was already said.

This thread brings back memories to post draft 2018. We'd moved on from Dez, signed a bunch of below market veterans and drafted Gallup. We were absolutely horrendous and ended up overpaying for Amari.

Yep.. Amari was the MVP of this team since the moment he got here and when he didn’t get the ball we weren’t a very good team.
The only 2 games he missed for us was last year. We were 0-2 in those games and Dak had 2TDs, 2 INTS, and 2 Fumbles.

You're right. Cooper was the MVP the whole time he was here.

Yeah they tried WRBC as opposed to RBBC that neither worked.
