who did Vick ever have to throw to? (other than desean in philly) you put him in the league now, with the way the game has changed, the way offenses have changed and w/ a talented receiver corps I think he goes off personally

Most great QBs make receivers. Other than Shannon Sharpe Elway never had anything at receiver. Dan Marino made the marks brothers. Michael Vick wasn’t a great passer coming out of college and that was the concern with him. He was the number one overall pick because he was an electrifying runner. He had a strong arm but wasn’t a polished passer and never developed into one. The way the game has changed now you have to be a productive passer and you have to be good in the pocket. The Ravens are trying to make Lamar Jackson better in the pocket which has caused his rushing numbers to go down. For a QB to win consistently in todays game especially in the playoffs they have to get it done with their arm. You’re not going to win consistently with a QB that struggles to throw for 200 yards.

Lamar Jackson is a better version of Michael Vick and Baltimore isn’t going to win a championship with him if he doesn’t become a more productive passer. It’s going to be interesting to see if the Ravens are going to be willing to pay him $50 million per season because that’s probably what he’s going to be looking for. He was 7-5 last season. I wouldn’t take Lamar Jackson over Dak. A QB has to put up big passing numbers to win a championship these days. This is why the Rams traded for Matt Stafford.

Because his era was when Tom Brady was relying on defense to win him QBs...
Yeah, I'm not mentioning Brady and Vick in the same sentence. It's bad enough thinking he's got a leg up on Prescott.
And since we are on the topic of dogs, Dak didn't lock of up pit bulls that ended up biting neighbors...

Are you seriously attempting to compare the two situations?

Laughable.

Michael Vick was better on his worst day than Dak on his best.

One day people will learn that statistics mean virtually nothing. But I'm not holding my breath.

Vick is a better QB right now than Dak.
What are you trying to say? Half the games played with twice the production is worse?
There Prescott hatred and then there's this next level embarrassment.

well yeah, he’s obviously not marino or elect or anyone of that ilk. i’m simply talking about from a production standpoint i think he’d have a much better go of it in todays age and with a solid wr or two. wouldn’t least anywhere probably, but would be exciting

Even with better receivers he wouldn’t have been. He wasn’t an accurate passer. Vick had a great receiver in DeSean Jackson in Philadelphia and he still wasn’t very productive as a passer. DJax may end up in the HOF. Dak’s career low for passing yards and passing TDs was 3324 with 22 TDs. That exceeds Michael Vick’s career best in both categories. Vicks electrifying running skills had many fans and even some players in the league idolize him. It’s the same thing with Lamar Jackson. Exciting, dynamic player because of his running skills but the Ravens will continue to come up short with him unless he becomes a more productive passer. It’s going to be tough because they just traded away their best receiver. I’ve never been a fan of QBs that do most of their damage with their legs. The NFL is a passing league.

What happens to QBs like Michael Vick and Lamar Jackson is when they get to the playoffs they run into a real good defensive team that forces them to have to make plays with their arm. They end up running around like a chicken with their heads cut off taking sacks and throwing picks. In 4 playoff games Jackson is 1-3 and has only 3 TD passes to 5 INTs. Michael Vick had 5 career playoff TDs compared to 4 INTs.

Good point.
When teams make you one dimensional, you strength shouldn't be that you can run the ball as a QB.

We all saw what happened to Cam Newton in the Super Bowl against Denver. They corralled him forcing him to have to make plays from the pocket. They took the run away from him which is what good defensive teams do.

He fared pretty well with Desean. I'm not going to sit here and argue definitively, but I think that he would be much more productive today. Like Lamar, like Kyler, he was just too dynamic. We'll never know though, and I don't share your particular outlook

That's exactly what they do.

The league is definitely easier for passers to look good now than it was in Vick's heyday. I also think his running ability would make him even more lethal now that teams have embraced the QB as a viable running option and use it as a weapon now instead of just a bailout. But Vick was always going to struggle when teams could keep him in the pocket until he became a better, more consistent passer. A lot of young QBs have to go through that transition. I don't think he ever quite got there but he certainly was fun to watch while he tried to figure it out.

I don’t agree I don’t think he would be a much more productive passer in today’s game. Even Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray are better passers than Michael Vick but even they aren’t very productive passers. I don’t think the Cardinals or the Ravens are totally sold on either QB. Both teams are going to have to decide whether they want to pay those QBs 45+ million. Murray could end up being the next big name QB traded.

That's exactly what they do.

Most teams that win Super Bowls have a great pass rush. You can’t have a QB that’s looking to takeoff all the time and get it done in postseason. No run first QB has ever won a championship. The good running QBs that won Super Bowls were great passers and they’re all in the HOF.

its hard to find anyone that'll say Prescott was better than Vick because people hate Dallas and wont give credit where its due

Dak in his prime is better than Vick in his prime any day of the week and twice on Sunday.....there's no comparison really

It’s hard to find anyone on this board who’ll say Dak is better than any QB he’s compared with because a lot of fans hate him. Vick was a more dynamic player because of his running ability but no way was he a better QB than Dak. No one is ever going to convince me that a QB that was averaging around 2200 passing yards per season with 15 TDs was better than Dak. No way would this fan base tolerate those type of passing numbers.
