I'm not even sure how often Fowler is going to see 1st and 2nd down with Armstrong and his 6.5m salary around, and Williams is behind Fowler for now.

I think Quinn will make use of all these guys in dime packages and get pressure.

Understanding exactly how is above my level of knowledge, I just trust that he will make it happen.

Think Strahan/Tuck/Kiwanuka/JPP all rushing at once. Stole a couple of SB that way.

Maybe....Parsons/Lawrence/Williams/Fowler.

Getting home with four is the key to success!!
He will play to their strengths. Think they all can rush standing up or hand in the dirt, even DLaw.

A couple of things.
1. Wins mostly with Speed off Edge.
2. Can get run out of plays.
3. he does not use his LONG arms enough.... he gets bullied and run out of plays. He's Got heavy hands when he uses his long arms but for some reason he does not use them that much in this game and the OT gets in to his Chest and controls him. NOW he did have some plays where he won but IMO not as many as he was stonewalled.

So All in All i think he's a mirror of Gregory in year 1 because i saw same things with him. IF he can learn a counter inside move and Dan Teach the kid to always use those Crazy long arms he's going to be unstoppable. He's Got the Tools and Heavy hands to really do some damage but he's just got a lot of learning to do still. I think 1st year rotational Pass rusher. 2nd year if he learns the nuances of the game and starts doing them sky's the limit on him.
I think Gregory was better than Sam coming out of college. FWIW.

I know Randy was supposedly a top 5 player when he was coming out until he smoked at the combine.

Randy was also 235lbs ...

Quinn's not worried about Sam Williams' run defense, and I'm not either.

Quinn just wants flamethrower speed at RE. Look at the starters he's had. Cliff Avril, Bruce Irvin, Vic Beasley, Takk McKinley, Dante Fowler, Randy Gregory.... I bet you the slowest 40 any of those dudes ran is in the low 4.6s. Quinn's been calling defenses for a decade, and he's never not had elite speed at RE. It's just a core part of his system. All of those Quinn guys were poor run defenders, but if he had a problem with that, he wouldn't keep picking them.

I don't think Sam Williams is ever going to be a good run defender. He doesn't play with good leverage and he doesn't have the lower-body drive to wrestle with OTs. But in this system, he doesn't have to be a good run defender. He just has to come screaming off the blind side on pass plays, and he's well-equipped to do that.

Randy Gregory was terrible in run defense, to your point.

However, Sam will be just fine in run D imo and better than Randy was by far. I believe he is a complete DE.

I’ve said it since I fell in love with him months ago when he became my pet cat. The kid looks like Parsons when going after the QB. Fast pursuit and explosive. He also can bull rush with the best of them.

Quinn should have plenty of fun things to do with he and Parsons. Imagine these two on a twist stunt?
For the next 10 years

We stole this guy. To me, he is the best DE in the entire draft. I haven't seen anyone, still need to look at Thibs, who has his ability.

Important notes:

*Like the top video and overall he knows what he is talking about but...his commentary on needing to get stronger as he is completely ragdolling the Tackles is comical to me.
* This MS St. game saw SW coming off the edge a lot more. This is what he will be doing for us and I just can't wait to see him and Micah rushing. This is going to be sick.
* Even though he came off the edge a lot vs Ms. St, they were still only rushing 3. Simply amazing how dominant he is.
* Did anyone notice how many times he was penalized? Holding all over the place, even a trip where the lineman grabbed his leg as he blew past him.
* If that MS St qb was a bit slower and or had a little worse pocket presence, he would have had 4 or 5 sacks that game.
*This guy hardly ever comes off the field. Think about how much more dominant he will be with rotations.

Dan Quinn will be right there with De Williams to get him acclimated and developed, just like he did with Micah Parsons. I'm not worried about what kind of a work ethic Williams might have, since Quinn is so very proactive about developing his most talented players. That's not to say his work ethic isn't good or anything of the sort. He'll be subjected to a very active training regimen, with Quinn right there to make sure he gets exactly that. :)
A lot of extra Personal Attention . . . Just like at His pro Day

Dude has always had the skill
It's off field issues that have been the concern

What are the exact details of his arrest? I realize he wasn't convicted, but I'm unable to locate any details on Google, which is kind of strange.

His first step looks good, or the Tackles he was going against were bad. I don't see a pass rush arsenal from him yet. Only speed to power. And definitely not a 1-2 down player. I see a situational 3rd down rusher current day. Needs to get stronger.

The tackles were the highest rated tackles in the draft... They both went before him.

Did he actually smoke at the combine? Or he just failed his combine UA?

It's this that bothers me. People keep saying issues like he has had a running history of wrong doing.... HE HASN'T!!! He was charged 1 time by a vindictive girl and the charges were dismissed. People need to stop acting like the Cowboys are drafting a convicted rapist. Man this stuff makes me want to say bad words.

Agreed. Never said he was a criminal.
But serious stuff like this is a distraction

Accused of rape.
Don't know the details, but I believe the charges were dropped.

A couple of things to note: Sam did relatively well against Charles Cross and Evan Neal. Directly below is Williams' game against Cross. Below that, is his entire game against Neal.

Anyway, xwalker pointed out how Sam would have been a first round pick if not for his off-the-field issues. But he seems to be past that part of his life.

I sense he's probably a hard worker, and his skillset will only improve.

As days go by, I realize Williams is probably the most talented player we drafted, by far. I'm looking forward to watching him.

It's a good game. Look out for Dontario Drummond on the Ole Miss offense. He's also on our roster. Could be a good pick up.

He was being held on one play . # 52 I believe
