do you even watch football with any comprehension, the coaches would not use lineup like this on 1st and 10 its for 3rd/4th and long, ie obvious passing downs especially say with the game on the line with time limited, teams wouldn't run .

this package the OP is suggestion would be for limited special situations..
This would be a good post, without the first 8 words.

I'm not concerned about Cowboys speed packages.

It is the run downs that Cowboys struggle mightily on.

Cowboys need to focus on developing a HULK SMASH package instead.

It's a real handicap if you can't make stops in short yardage.

Could you lovely fans imagine a team having to face a d-line coming at them with Micah, Gallimore, Tank, and Sam Williams coming at them???

I feel that we slide tank to DT at times if we were to do this. I'm scared just thinking about this, let's meet up at the QB guys!!!! Give your thoughts
Quinn was trying to acquire the type of players he needs to run his D year 1, but now is getting a bit dialed in with picks that can be what he wanted from Neal, and now an upgrade with Cox.
Could have a true 1 tech in Ridgeway, and if we just hit on those two watch this entire defense begin to transcend.
Bring on the bashers, but Im not dismissing a dedication to build in the "same" direction, thats a great direction when you see the vision of DQ and how WM and this FO have invested and believe in the direction, cant be done in just 1 year.
If we get the young DLs in a rotation battle, this entire D will come together rapidly.
Bash away haters, but Im a major supporter of this Defense becoming relevant faster than this offense, and if the O can find a way to keep up than this team has a real shot at being in contention.

I'm confused why people are high of Gallimore.
Showed some flash, dont ask me to identify the exact few plays, I saw them but they were in his rookie campaign.
Im hoping that he can revisit those early indicators, or he will be gone.
Many may not value the investment made on DL, and understandable, but when you look at recent draft history, draft stock has been used.
Its never easy even with top picks hitting on DL playmakers, im settling for a 1tech with an attitude, at least this franchise for once has recognized the 1tech, dont care what round.
Progress is slow in these parts.

I agree he flashed his rookie year. I had hopes for him last year but after the way he then played I am just going to wait and see.

What Im most excited about is an entire open battle on DL in this camp, to an extent, we all know and already understand the contracts that are uncuttable.
Lets take a look at the depth battles going on with the interior DL and its more than we have witnessed since the early 90s, not saying its the same, totally different eras mind you, but Im at least seeing
a savy DC in Quinn being given a choice and opinion.
WM and DQ have an obvious handshake on concept and defensive design, more so than Moore has been given,, thats another thread entirely.

As would mine.

My sentences were unrelated. In fact I was joking in my first sentence. Hence the word, "seriously".

on paper they have the big DTs, Bohanna & Ridgeway , combined with 3 techs Osa, Gallimore and Hill and the pass rushers Tank, Fowler, Basham, Armstrong and De williams , with Parsons in between , looks ok.

But there is a game day roster limit , you cant have all active , so who is going to be active and how effective they are all game will determine.

Only one of Bohanna/Ridgeway.

Long on OLB/DEs, light on ILBs.

Opposing teams would be smart to run vs that lineup all day long.
That would be great. Run on 3rd and long. Smart defenses with good pass rushes understand this. Brady’s greatest offense, with Moss, had trouble running and passing vs the Giants Nascar Package in the Super Bowl!!

Agree, and I think bringing in Ridgeway is a big step in the right direction. Let's see how Bo and Gallimore develop but I'm thinking the interior line is looking stout. I worry about the end spot opposite of Tank and I'm still apprehensive about LB outside of Micah.

Lots of really nice players, just a matter of putting them in positions for them to succeed. I have faith in Quinn. We very well could have the best defense in the league. Just a matter of some younger guys stepping up.

You have more faith in a 5th round who is not special athletically or production wise over a freak athletic 2nd rounder with better production than 1st overall pick?

Brady had a subpar run game that season.

IM not i believe Fowlers every bit the player randy was if not more..its at least wash..addin Sam and havig a rotation of Gholston and Armstrong for both sides id say we haven't got weaker, maybe stronger but at minimum its a wash,.

I don’t want to be Debbie downer because I think we have a top 10 defense but Gallimore has shown nothing in the last two seasons to be considered one of our best pass rushers. On pass rushing downs you are more likely to see some combinations of Micah, Tank, Armstrong, Fowler, Williams, and Gholston. Besides Micah and Tank I don’t think the other guys scare anyone yet.
