Kelvin Joseph should have productively reached out and helped the victim's family by now. Is he even going to try...or does he not care? How about the Cowboys? You are supporting a costly drafted player WHO WAS a part of the killing group. What are Jerry and the Cowboys going to do to help that poor family?

Any good lawyer will tell you that you can't do that during an ongoing criminal investigation. To apologize or to financially help a victim can be seen as an admission of culpability and/or guilt for doing something wrong.

It may not be kosher "morally" but "legally," there's a reason why lawyers tell clients to say and do as little as possible to attract attention to your case.

Kelvin Joseph Having 'Productive Offseason,' Reveals Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy

kelvin-j.webp

FRISCO - Dallas Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy initially insisted that he had nothing new to offer to the public in regard to the beleaguered Kelvin Joseph.

But then, in his Friday meeting with the media here inside The Star, he did indeed provide two glimpses into what is going on with the second-year cornerback, who is still with the despite his connection to a drive-by murder in Dallas last month.

McCarthy's first revelation was about something bigger than football.

"I understand the concern, and I just want you to know that when the situation occurred, we had a lot of internal conversation that was really in-depth,'' he said. "Based off the information we've been given, we felt it was important to support him.''

This is a subtly significant position. It essentially suggests that the Cowboys are comfortable with what they've learned about the tragic incident, and that they are comfortable with what Joseph has told them about it.

The second issue is football-related. Said the coach: He's been here every day and he's having a very productive offseason so far."

This is good news, but to be honest he has a lot larger concerns at the moment.
Goodell is probably going to slap a heavy suspension on him.

No he wouldn’t. The Joneses would only get rid of Joseph if he could not play football. Let’s just say this if Joseph was shot in the back and could not play football. The Cowboys would release him. The Joneses are not getting rid a talent.

Especially when there have been no charges against him so far.

I'm continually amazed by how being an athlete gives you so many privileges. You can literally take your crew out, get in a fight, watch your crew kill someone, then keep quiet until your face is on the news and people will give you the benefit of the doubt.

He sure can run fast, though.

If Joseph was a 6th round pick last year rather than a 2nd…he’d already be gone.
Well, after news got out that he was riding in a car full of gangbanging murderers he should have been kicked to the curb immediately! There's a reason why this dude transferred out of LSU and it wasn't because he was a lousy football player.

If he can stay out of jail and get a minimal suspension if any from the League...I think he ql make a MAJOR jump in year 2.

But he wasn't and he's not. What's your point?

His point is if he was a lower round pick he wouldn’t be here. No great loss if he was a sixth or seventh round pick. However, he was a premium draft selection and It would be a major blow to the organization to have to move on from him after only one season. The Cowboys are waiting it out with him as long as they can but Joseph’s days could be numbered.

Joseph has become a huge distraction. At some point McCarthy and the organization is going to get tired of having to address his situation. The team is trying to prepare for the upcoming season and they’re continuing to have to talk about this.

I love all the hot takes teams come up with for their "key" players in the off season. This guy has taken command of the offense...this guy is working harder than I have ever seen...that guy has become a team leader....yadda, yadda. Zeke was in the best shape of his life last off season and early on, and we know what happened a few weeks in. Guess news is news on a slow news day

If a suspension is handed down Joseph could be done with the Cowboys unless he’s showing a lot this summer that makes him worth the headache and the loss of games. A suspension would set him way back.

Yes it would, young players need the practice and the reps...
