I'm pulling for this young man to be able to redeem himself this season. His injury slowed him down and made him look worse than he is. I think he has more tread on the old tires left to have a very good year. Also, they shouldn't sleep on Tony Pollard as an after thought. Each back has their strengths and should be played accordingly.
It SHOULD be a formidable 1-2 punch....but the whole running game seams more like an afterthought...not just Tony.

Another positive thread trashed but gracious Cowboy fans lol, it's definitely offseason!
The point I always make about Zeke is he doesn't have a stiff arm so he tried to bulldoze tacklers instead of trying to make them miss.

Dak has low arching fastballs.
Zeke has no stiff arm.
Shultz can't block.

They all have their drawbacks but they are all still good players. I mean, we didn't have the number one offense by mistake. But I look at these guys and I see piss poor coaching. They could tell Zeke to spread his fingers apart as far as he can when using his stuff arm. That would automatically make his muscles in his forearm tighten up. They could work with Dak on putting more air under the ball. They could tell Shultz to seal the LB off, to one side or the other, instead of trying to push him off the line.

So the coaches aren't worth a crap.

He was in much better shape this last season before the PCL than he was the two before so hopefully with a similar training program he is back again and just gets a better run in-season.

Pretty stoked about another summer of Elliott workout reports and then the season comes and we get the same, slower version of Elliott.

One more year and then we can free up some cap space. It's downright insane we have a TB with an $18.2 million cap hit this year.

Meanwhile....
What's the excuse for his previous seasons?!

2017 - He was suspended 6 games so he ran for 983 yards in 10 games
2020 - This was the Cabo Mexico holdout year - It was obvious to anyone that he showed up out of shape. He was not football ready and that was his fault. No excuses
2021 - I think he was ready to roll. However, our OLine was terrible at run blocking between the tackles which is his strength. Biadasz and C Will/McGovern were terrible in the middle. Pollard was not as affected by the lack of inside blocking because he is an outside the tackles type of RB. Also, it was obvious Zeke was not healthy with that knee brace he was wearing toward the end of the season
2022 - I think the Zeke/Pollard combination can do big things for us this year "IF" the OLine can correct the run blocking issues. I think this will be Zeke's last year as a Cowboy due to his contract. The only chance he has of hanging around is if he takes a drastic pay cut and that may not even be enough to stick with Dallas.

My philosophy on RBs:

Don't draft a RB in the 1st round ever
Always have 2 good ones on the roster - you don't necessarily need a great one
Keep them through the first 4 years of their rookie contract. When the 2nd contract comes up and they are wanting big money then just let them go.
Draft them with the intention of only keeping them 4 years and replacing them after that.

There could be a very rare exception where you look at the 2nd contract but it would have to be a very, very special RB that had a history of staying healthy.

Looks like he’s practicing getting back to the line of scrimmage. Let’s see his 100m track videos, oh that’s right there aren’t any.
