I'm expecting another DLaw situation occurring, where the team asks Zeke to take a pay cut or play somewhere else.

Why a mere pay cut when you can chance getting a fresher, more potentially bigger playmaker in the 2nd or 3rd round who has less wear & tear toll on his
body than age 27 year old Zeke Elliott ?

....Zeke has lots of heart, that might save him. @26 yrs old, he still has 3-4 seasons of quality football left.

Fisher will end up wrong again as usual. The only thing he’s right about is that Zeke will not be dumped this season. However, he will not be back in 2023. His guaranteed money is the only thing that’s keeping him on the team this season.

Lol. Fish is such a click baiter. He pulls this stuff out of his hat w/no FO sources whatsoever. Elliott would have been gone this year if not for that humungous cap hit. Jerry's not going to keep paying a guy that lump sum of money whose numbers keep declining. Hilarious!
He's a Master click Baiter....

I believe it.

You get drafted by the Cowboys, especially high, then you basically have a job for life. The only way you don't is if you decide with your own freewill that you want to go somewhere else.

That’s not true at all. The Cowboys moved on from Dez after 8 seasons when he was no longer producing at a high level. They cut Taco after only three seasons. They moved on from Jaylon who was a second pick after 4 seasons. Didn’t take them long to move on from Fasano and Gavin Escobar who were second round picks. Martellus Bennett who was a second round pick was only here for four seasons. They allowed Chido to walk after his rookie deal who was a second round pick. They’re not staying with a player regardless where they draft them if they don’t feel they’re producing a high enough level. Everyone is dealing with a salary cap.

I left out Morris Claiborne who was a top 10 pick the Cowboys traded up for. He lasted only 5 seasons with the team. You might want to do some research before posting.

If you would have kept reading you would have seen that I already pointed out how Claiborne was given a 1 year deal after his first 4 years expired. I guess they wanted to make sure he was a bust and signed him for another year just to be sure.

Either way, you gave a few examples, and good on you for that, but that doesn't change what I said. If we draft you, especially high, most guys are set unless they screw it up completely. I never said these guys will never play for other teams, but I was basically saying the Cowboys, more so than most organizations, will give you every opportunity to get right.

I didn’t keep reading I responded to your comment and gave enough examples that prove you were 100% false. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who called you on your comment. No team stays with a player regardless how high they were drafted if they’re not producing because of player salaries and the salary cap. It’s gotten so tight for teams they’re having to trade away great players because they can’t afford to keep them under the cap. You have to go back pre-salary cap to find teams that stayed with players forever. During the Landry era the Cowboys stayed with players year after year. It was the same names and faces for more than a decade. Teams weren’t dealing with the overblown salaries, free agency and a cap.

You didn’t point anything out about Claiborne until he was mentioned. Another one I left out was Bobby Carpenter who was a first round pick who only lasted four seasons with the Cowboys. The list keeps growing!

I agree with your viewpoint, but they see him as one of the team leaders. Think he could be better in a Barber type of role, if his salary is cut.

Why should I believe a guy who looks like he just rolled out of bed after a 3 day bourbon binge?

But seriously, he makes a good point about redoing Zeke's contract. That is a possibility, if Zeke is willing to agree to it. I think Zeke does not have much of a choice because no other team in the NFL is going to pay him $11 million next year, $10 million the year after, and then $32 million more the 2 years after that.

I also believe Jerry Jones will not want to cut Zeke, ever.

But doesn't it all depend on how Zeke looks in 2022? If Zeke is unproductive again in 2022 then I don't see how the Cowboys justify keeping him. Maybe Zeke takes a pay cut in 2023 but He is not going to let the Cowboys reduce his salary under $5 million which is closer to what he deserves based on production.

This is Pollard's contract year and then I think he is gone. Jerry is not going to pay him and he will move on, especially if he is getting 2 carries for every 10 of Zeke's.

At the same time Zeke has to know that the Cowboys can cut him loose next year. So in effect it is a contract year for him. It will be interesting to see if he steps up to save his job for 2023.

Yeah, let's first see how Zeke does this upcoming season. I wouldn't put it past the Cowboys to give him a 3 year 15M dollar contract with 10M signing bonus. Something in that area. That's 10M he would never see otherwise.

Cult following.

The best thing about the “like” feature is it exposes the dopes on the board. Someone posts something totally false and they attract to it. It’s like walking around with an “I’m stupid” sticker stuck on their back.
