The reason the Cowboys are such a money maker is you have all these fool fans that think if they were to beat the Bucs this is a SB team. And than the other half of the viewers are NFL fans that love to see the Cowboys lose because their fans are so naive. And than a small percentage of fans know the reality is this team is maybe slightly above avg but in way should ever be thought of as a SB contender.
Frame it however you want. The Cowboys are a ratings gold mine and that is why they are scheduled in this game

Do some of you completely understand how bad our division was last year? In thousands of years cheering for this team I've never seen the NFCEa bigger train wreck
Not even close.

Networks knows where the rating are and as long as the Cowboys are bringing in the ratings they will continue to get primetime. Last season the 2 highest rated games was Cowboys vs raiders and Cowboys vs KC. Networks pay out big money to the NFL and as long as the Cowboys are a ratings booster they will continue to show them. Don't watch if you don't want to see them in prime time

They were there because they draw ratings.
And it is critical to the league that they kick off the season with strong ratings because the reports will be coming out on the following Tuesday with comparisons to the previous games to start the seasons.

That is one of the reasons that they stopped staring the season on Labor Day weekend and let college have that. They were not off to a great start and it is a symbiotic relationship with the TV nets, who are actually the underwriters of the NFL and the reason they all make a profit before the ball touches the tee.

2 playoff teams.

Those 2 playoff teams combined to go 4-10 vs winning teams outside of the NFC East.

Only 1 of those 4 wins came against a playoff team - the Cowboys overtime win versus the Patriots. The others were over the 9-8 Chargers and Saints.

Neither NFC East team won a playoff game, nor did the one playoff team Dallas defeated (Patriots got blown out).

The NFC East was garbage last season.

The most successful sport league on the entire planet earth, puts the most popular and wealthy sports team in the entire world on prime time and a guy working at quick mart thinks they shouldn't be there. #WelcomeToACowboysForum

The NFC North was worse.

2015 and 2020 were worst years for the division

I know all of you remember my post from last year around this time when I said that the Cowboys had no business playing the opening weekend on Sunday night because they were 6-10 the year before and didn't even stiff the playoffs. Well so much has changed in a year with the Cowboys making the playoffs and winning the division the NFL finally got something right by scheduling them once again against Tom Brady and the Bucs, however, they could have had the game at A.T.&T which would have been nice but that's alright the Cowboys even though they lost they outplayed the Bucs last year and they'll get another chance at finally beating Brady.
It's not an award the league gives out, it's just about ratings. If the league and network think the Cowboys will bring in viewers that's all they justification they need to put the Cowboys in a prime TV spot..

What drives who is on Prime Time is one thing, say it with me “ratings”. No one draws more eyes to the screen than the Cowboys. If they could have 15 prime time/stand alone games, they would. Nothing else matters. No one takes “deserving” into account. Think about what you are saying before you say it. Networks are out for ratings. That’s it. They will fight for Cowboys games till their dying breath.
