I expect much more than "just do your job" from these guys.

Why, if everyone is doing their job that is what they are supposed to do. It is called a team. Hell I would love to see 1700 yards from him with 10 TD but I know that is not very likely. I do expect 1000 yard receiving from him but much of that depends on how much time he misses to start the season.

IMHO the current depth would be the following...
Fehoko and Vasher behind Gallup.
Tolbert and Fryfogle behind Lamb.
Brown and Smith behind Washington.
There will be movement during TC, but this is the current landscape at WR I believe, and how the coaches are seeing it at this early stage.

If we're both WRs and you're making a lot more money than me then you best be doing better than me or I'll be causing problems.

Depends now doesn't it? More in expected from Lamb and odds are he will be getting more opportunities coming his way. His pay vs Gallup has nothing to do with the expectations that are on either player. One is a 1st rd pick who was projected to be a #1 WR when they drafted him and the other a 3rd rd pick WR who has played a role within the team

As for guys like Fehoko and Vasher they are again on Rookie contract just as Gallup was once on a rookie contract and it falls to them to go out and produce, if they do they will get their chance at FA if they fail they likely will not be in the league very long.

We've got Lamb right where we want him. He's not gotten paid and he has a chance to prove himself and earn his money.

He's going to have to accept a contract that is in line with his production compared to his peers if he wants to be on my team.

I'm not paying someone just because its "their turn" to set the market. Nope. You want to set the market at your position? Then do things that very few players at your position can do and now do it over a couple years to show me it's not a fluke.

yes Lamb will have to earn it and the payout should he will be much greater than that of Gallup. Gallup was not setting the market value, his pay is based on players who fall into the same level of play as he has.

I'm fine with it. I hope someone does step up and ball out.

I just think that if that happens then it makes Gallup looks like just another bad contract on the books for the Cowboys.

I mean, we'll almost certainly lose the WR that filled in and played at the same level as Gallup, but we'll be stuck with Gallup, who may or may not be an injury waiting to happen because of his contract.

gallup has proven he’s a good 2. If Washington or the rookie step up and play about as good or better than Gallup then great. We have a solid wr room. Doesn’t mean Gallup didn’t earn it. Just says more about the other guys ( Gallup injury withstanding).

Let me lay you out an example for you here because you seem to have trouble understanding....

Say you have a 4 year contract with a guy that mows your lawn for $300 a week, okay? He calls you up one day and says he's sick and going to be off a couple months.

So, in the meantime you call your back up guy and he mows your lawn for $100 a week.

The guy that does it for $100 a week does just as good as they guy you're paying $300 a week too.

Do you not, at any point, say to yourself "ya know, why am I paying this guy so much more for the same exact production?"

Would you not expect a better job from the $300 a week person over the $100 a week person?

If you pay premium price for something you expect premium results as compared to your back up plan. Personally, I would expect a return on what I am paying. I would expect the $300 a week person to do a much better job than the $100 a week person. If you don't, and you're okay with the more expensive person giving you the same amount of production as the cheaper person then you're just a sucker.

sounds like the backup needs to get to negotiating. You’re lucky because 300 must be the going rate for good lawn service or you were a sucker paying that. Now you have 2 lawn dudes to choose between who do a great job.

They won't even acknowledge his absence, so people will forget we were too cheap to keep Wilson, and dumb enough to pay injured Gallup.

Keep wilson? What for? He was grossly overpaid. Washington is a better WR and we got him for like 1.5 million.

We were too smart to keep Wilson. And smart enough to dump the overpaid and underperforming Cooper.

Hopefully it's the running game that picks up the slack.

Zeke is usually strong the first part of the season so I hope they ride that, along with some strong defense, into some early wins.

But....once our tendencies are on film, Gallup showing up mid season isn't going to change anything if Moore can't adjust.

I truly hope he realizes this and has spent the offseason working on it.

Zeke is usually strong first half? Since when? That was only last year. Zeke is usually out of shape the beginning of the year and tries to play himself into shape. Last year was the first year he decided to get into great shape.

Grossly overpaid? Then he would have fit right in here. That, and he had great chemistry with Dak. People can deny it if it makes them feel better about letting him go, but we all saw it; they looked darn good together. This team isn't "too smart" to do anything.

Last two years he came out strong.

Before the fumbling started in 2020 he was pretty good, albeit only for a few games.

Trust me, I eat crow every time he plays well and I recall apologizing for it during that time.

Clearly he is done, but he can probably give us the first few games on fresh legs. It is what it is at this point. His agent knew what he was doing in getting him four years of guaranteed not being cut. Jerry caved badly. Worst contract in team history and its not particularly close.

Wilson had ONE decent year in Dallas buddy. Now all you guys want to cry about him leaving. These are the type of guys that franchises need to replace and do replace every year. Wilson was a JAG and got overpaid. Good riddance.

Ok, looks like did start out with some good games. Once Dak went down it was curtains.

Why would you apologize for Zeke actually doing his job for a few games?

Lol...whatever makes you feel better, buddy. You're right...Wilson was just awful and had no chemistry with Dak. Dak will be so much better with Ced off the field!!!

Because I used to rip him for mailing it in once getting paid, and I can't stand him for his behavior early on, so I took plenty of shots.

But yep, he had some fresh legs at the beginning of each of the last two seasons.

Checked out mentally before Dak even went down in 2020 with the fumbles, and yeah got banged up last year but that's the nature of the position....and I expect about the same this year.....but I'm hoping it lasts until Gallup can return, which was the point of the comment.

Needles to say, I can't wait to move on.

I promise improving the run game is the talk of next offseason......they are never ahead of things, always about fixing what went wrong the year prior.

My only hope is the guy with HOF talent but ain't going has some semblance of pride and gives us a decent year before the door hits him in the behind.

No one will take up that slack. We will just miss Gallup until he is back. Washington and Tolbert will try but no one can fill Gallup's shoes.

Surely hoping Lamb, doesn't get hurt in camp.
That would vastly comprised the season.

and even when Gallup is finally cleared to return, with an recovery injury like that and being out so very long before the season, it's not like it's gonna be
instant the moment he returns, ..it could take a year for him to have a chance to get back into previous playing form.

We just have to really, really hope both FA James Washington and rookie Jalen Tolbert can make up the difference and impact, much like Ceddy Wilson did.

The concerning part is the Cowboys are going to likely have to go with receiver by committee to replace Gallup. That strategy blew up in their face during the early part of the 2018 season but they were doing that to replace a number one receiver. At least we have CeeDee but he hasn’t been a number one receiver as a pro. It’s going to be interesting to see how he responds to all the coverage rolling over to him. Amari had to be accounted for and without him could create some real issues. We’re going to have to hold our breath CeeDee stays healthy.
Fingers crossed, If CeeDee goes does we will really feel the pressure
