Can Dak be as effective as Steve Young

I agree, that's a fact. Also, in shotgun the QB has to take his eyes off from downfield to see the snap coming. It's a split second, but it doesn't help. I'm just not a fan unless you at the very least run an occasional draw out of shotgun. In most game situations of course. There's a time for shotgun and it's usually when there's no other option but to pass.
That is not supposed to happen. It does for the Cowboys because the C is erratic with his most important job. They need to put him on notice or move him to OG next season and get a C that can execute that snap consistently. Prescott has to have the best hands on the team with this guy.

I saw he was going for the Watson deal and I would be surprised if he/agent goes for a 6 at 280 when Watson got 5 at 230M, all guaranteed. What has Watson proven more than Murray?

Yup he will get more i would imagine, these QB contracts will be going up .....for non SB winning QB's no less..there will be some posters here that may not be able to fathom this.

We have this tendency to simplify it by saying if QB A gets the best money, then QB B should be behind him but this isn't that at all.

This is all about how much to keep your franchise QB or do what CLE and DEN did and let's see what Wilson gets. Or they have to take their chances with the draft and that is still dicey if you are a GM and/or HC feeling a little heat under your butt as the Bears did last year.

Many were angry Prescott got what he did but what were the options? Add to that this brain trust had to luck out on the last two starting QB's. Did they really want these people picking another QB? They wanted Lynch and Cook over Prescott, they are not even mediocre QB evaluators. They are bad, very bad at that.

Exactly! the position price is going high and to offset it you have to hit on your early round picks at other positions which throws a monkey wrench into "Use the early round pick on a QB flyer to see if he can replace your franchise QB" as your saying "Man this defense needs upgrading" those 2 statements dont mix well. Then remind yourself people had to literally hold this GM back from picking Manziel for QB.

Drafting good defense may well put this team over the top....that is not a comment for or against Dak....you were not going to win a SB with a horrible defense, its just a fact.

Not concerned with how my comment appears to you, but what we saw from Dak last year wasn't close to what we've seen from him pre-injury. I never said you have to run 20 yards for a run to be effective, but you have to run, and last year Dak just didn't. He's either hesitant because of the injury, or our coaches are even dumber than I gave them credit for. A Vick? Of course not, but he could turn the tide of a game back in the day with his run ability. He took the game on his shoulders and won the playoff game against Seattle with his feet.

Injuries have a psychological effect as well as physical.
Years ago, when I was a young pup I was doing squats at the gym, and the only other guy there managed to convince me that I could do a 400 lb squat, as I was doing like 365 lbs for several reps.
Well, when coming up with the weight I was only able to get about halfway up, got stuck, and all I could do was duck my head and chunk the bar on the floor.

Scared you-know-what out of me, for weeks afterwards when I got even like 275 lbs on the bar my legs began to shake, and I had to put the weight back on the rack. Eventually I got my confidence back (though never did get to that 400 lb level) and was able to do 365 again.

I think Dak still had the leg injury in the back of his mind, and the coaches probably knew that, so he didn't "push it" last year. But he says he doesn't even think about it now. Could be he's lying of course, but we will see what happens this year.

If it turns out you're right let me know and I'll have no problem admitting you were right...

My gut says that Dak simply isn't as good as Steve Young was. Then again, Young had this incredibly well-oiled offense to play for, and ours isn't like that, at least it hasn't been in recent years.

Put the Crackpipe down and slowly back away. We talking about Steve Young aren't we. He was good but cmon MAN
Steve Young was way better than Patrick Mahomes ever could be. Maybe you’re the one that should put the pipe down. You ask any cowboy fan who they did not want to face during the playoffs against San Francisco. And it was Steve Young.

Excuse me youngin, I am a Cowboys fan and I didn't give a fleas coitus if we played Steve Young. Hell the one game he beat us , if Jimmy were still here we would have Blanked him. Nice revisionist history though

What is it with these youngsters. Do ya'll hate the new players so much that you'll flat out lie about your heroes? Seriously I'm by no means a Patrick Mahomes apologist but c'mon

He has already matched Steve Young as far as Super Bowls. Been to more Super Bowls and comparing where they were at similar times in their careers he is far ahead of Steve.

I said Steve Young was a great QB. But c'mon with the Greatest stuff that's just B.ovine S.catter

And I'm partial to Scotch so..........................................

Dak is closer to Aikman than Young IMO. I saw a Bledsoe comparison as well, there's no shame in that. However, I would say Romo is more comparable to Young. If I had to pick one qb who Dak resembles it's Moon. IMO of course.
