And before some of you start, no this is not a hold. It’s not a hold if you aren’t trying to disengage. That’s 2 days in a row he has flattened a dlineman. This boy has the JUICE

dude, it does not matter what you think.

WHAT MATTERS is what the refs think.

Get a clue.

And that video is pretty useless in deciding what exactly happened. The D lineman could have slipped.

Sure, but its still a borderline hold. And you can bet some refs are going to call it. The ONLY way he is able to do that is by grabbing his jersey and not letting go. You can also bet that there will be opposing lineman that know how to flop, if you will, and will trying as hard as they can to sell it.

Time will tell. I love the kid and the pick, but we dont know how the NFL is going to react to these kinds of pancakes. He will either get a reputation for holding or it could go the other way.

I agree. He’s a Cowboy, so I’ll predict a “reputation for holding”. We’ll get at least one or two “L’s” instead of “W’s” because of it.

Hard to believe it will be because he is a "Cowboy" that he'll suddenly get a reputation for holding. He had it in college already. Hopefully if anything he gets rid of the problem as he learns better technique.

Looked like holding,,, but many players get away with more and many players have been called for less. It depends on how the refs want to treat you. Given the officiating track record with the Cowboys and the fact that every opposing coach is going to point their fingers at this guy I'm not optimistic.

Yesterday I commented on the Hill pancake that you definitely couldn’t tell if it was a hood or not because the camera shot was too far away. When zooming in and scrubbing the vid, it became too blurry to tell anything out of it.

But this vid, definitely hands on the shoulder pads which will get a “holding” call every time.

Still this kid is strong and if he can continue to work on and fix his technique, he’ll be a monster.

Here’s to hope!

This one looked clean. The other one against Hill looked like a hold.

I think the opposite actually. I defended yesterday's play as clean and think this one might be a hold especially on a run up the middle. Once 97 did the swim move, Smith held on to his left shoulder pad too long. Still, Smith looked pretty stout up to that point. If he can work out his techniques, he looks good on limited film so far.

Yah I dont believe in that myth. If the kid is really good he wont get a reputation. If its holding then he will get called. Might get some holds in the beginning before he learns what he can and cant do.
