Keep those hands inside. Only way to get the benefit of the doubt as an OL with holding calls. His arms look to be extended with his hands outside the shoulders of the defender. That will get called every time. Smith has to stop grappling with his opponent. The throw down is no good. They better coach this kid up or he is going to be a penalty machine.

And before some of you start, no this is not a hold. It’s not a hold if you aren’t trying to disengage. That’s 2 days in a row he has flattened a dlineman. This boy has the JUICE

Dammm, this guy gives out more pancakes than IHOP......means he got a mean streak to him, like that a lot.

This was a hold. He is going to get called 9-12 times for holds this year. LOL. I couldn’t tell if it was or not. This is 2 nice blocks. Let’s see what happens..

They may, but it's still legal.
Not really. They specifically addressed what was formerly considered the legal holding you described. We saw it get called a lot against our Cowboys last season. It's harder for the officials to spot if the o-lineman is good at it but they will call it when they spot it, and they often do. I wish they left it alone and still let the o-line use their hands inside the numbers.

Yeah, once you get a rep, the officials will look at you closer.... CWilliams, Pozderac, FAdams....etc... don't want to get on their naughty list.

They will also be better at defensive end without Gregory and will be better without L. Collins as well.
Gregory yes, he was overrated, very good player but not great. I think Sam Williams will impress. Collins, Im not sold on Steele being better but I love his work ethic so by years end he could be better. I wasn't upset that they chose to go with Steele at RT I was more upset that they had Collins and couldve just moved him to LG or LT. I don't think his 10 million dollar cap hit was that bad for a very good starting OLlineman that could start at 3 or 4 different positions.

I wouldn't be surprised if Collins never plays another game.

dude, it does not matter what you think.

WHAT MATTERS is what the refs think.

Get a clue.

And that video is pretty useless in deciding what exactly happened. The D lineman could have slipped.

you can get a clue, by definition of the book it wasn’t holding. Even if a certain ref calls it holding that wouldn’t make it certain, as they can and do make mistakes plenty

Sure, but its still a borderline hold. And you can bet some refs are going to call it. The ONLY way he is able to do that is by grabbing his jersey and not letting go. You can also bet that there will be opposing lineman that know how to flop, if you will, and will trying as hard as they can to sell it.

Time will tell. I love the kid and the pick, but we dont know how the NFL is going to react to these kinds of pancakes. He will either get a reputation for holding or it could go the other way.

Most of the time if you’re chest to chest with the lineman like Tyler was, they won’t call that holding. Cuz really it’s not

Until 97 did the swim move to get to a ball carrier and Smith "materially restricted" him. Per the rule, "It is a foul regardless of whether the blocker's hands are inside or outside the frame of the defender's body."10 yards. Replay 1st Down. Lol.
