In no particular order….

Die Hard
Lethal Weapon
John Wick
The Equalizer
Red
Two Guns
Nobody
Shoot ‘Em Up
Transporter
The Expendables

There were a bunch of others, but I was trying to avoid the whole sci-fi/space/superhero/Fantasy stuff. Plus, I was trying to avoid sequels (Red 2, Equalizer 2, John Wick 2 and 3, Lethal Weapon and Die Hard 2,3,4, etc.)!

I love RED. I watch it all the time. But I like Steven Segal movies too. One thing about Segal, he doesn't stage fight scenes where he is losing for 10 minutes then gets in a lucky punch to put the bad guy down. He beats the hell out of them from beginning to end, and the end usually comes quickly! His movies are a little cheap but still fun to watch.

What about sequels that are arguably better than the originals? Personally, I love Lethal Weapon and Lethal Weapon 2, but I am probably a heathen and like the second one more.

I assume fantasy would include any flick with anything remotely supernatural, like the abilities shown in Remo Williams?

I’ll add one, definitely more of an action movie than the previous installment:

GET AWAY FROM HER YOU know site rule #4 sure does come in handy sometimes.

Sigourney Weaver was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for Gorillas in the Mist: The Story of Dian Fossey and Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Working Girl but I still believe her best opportunity to win as Best Actress was this movie, even after all these years. She deserved the nomination.

Even in the third installment, while the script wasn't great, her performance was. I'll always remember the fear I felt with her, as the alien was face to face with her.

I was trying to stay within the parameters of the OP, but from your list, I should have included The Road Warrior.

Yeah, first one a straight up compelling space horror. Second one a great action flick with the Space Marines. Third and beyond all never figured out what they were. LOL

I was a fan of the third one, I really liked how weird it was shot. It was David Fincher’s first movie. He went on to do Seven, Fight Club, Zodiac, Gone Girl…. Awesome director.

Additional trivia: Joss Whedon wrote the 4th one, one of his first major Hollywood jobs. And then he went on to make the Avengers

I forgot that Finch did that one. I'm a huge fan of most of his stuff too. Maybe I never gave it a shot. I'll try it again. I just remember getting off on a bad foot because the opening scene killed Bishop, Newt and everyone else that I rooted for in part 2 within the first five seconds.

How about a favorite Director’s thread?
