Context....Which is it? I'm confused

What is NFL illegal contact?
Illegal contact in football occurs during the defender's initial “jam up” after the ball is snapped. During a “jam up” the defender will attempt to slow the opposing receiver from running their route by pushing or locking arms with them, hoping to throw off the timing between quarterback and receiver.

What is illegal contact in NFL football?

Definition. Illegal contact is when a defender grabs or holds onto an opposing receiver after the initial 5 yards of the line of scrimmage.

My thing is, if it's not obvious. Let them play. If he's not grabbing or holding onto the WR during the route. Let it slide

Offense sales tickets. Getting ready for those 42-41 nail biters.

Quarterbacks and receivers getting free reign in the NFL.

Yup. Remember the pass interference season?

God. This game gets harder and harder to watch

Yes. What about the landing on the QB season? The refs can't throw enough flags as it is, why would they encourage more? I understand they are a necessary evil. But that's what they are, a bad thing.

I don't have a problem enforcing a good rule .... but for god's sake be consistent about it.

Call it from beginning to end and on both teams.

For these type infractions, I would be willing to consider some sort of escalating penalty. Teams view it as do it til we are caught so the only way to reduce it is to make it so penal that teams change their attitude.

I’d love to hear someone explain how this makes the game better or more enjoyable to watch.

Penalties are an evil for sure. That 5 hour Thanksgiving game that just passed is proof they need less flags. Not more.
