Few running backs in the history of the NFL have given up their bodies to play as physical as Zeke has throughout his career. And by all accounts one of the hardest workers on the team.

Cowboys “fans”…..
All very true. He was clearly our best player from 2016-18.

But he also managed to ruin 2017 on his own, justified or not, then held the team hostage for the most player friendly contract I've ever seen to date (well, maybe Watson has that beat lol) well before it was due....and reported fat after he got it. He was the tap out king in 2019.

I don't think his regression is about lack of effort.....there's just a lot of miles on the guy and it's a little past time to move on. Can't just yet. See above.

As far as that jacket....not happening.

Ring elsewhere? Wouldn't surprise me at all, but he won't be a big part of it.

Maybe the key to trying to be fair about him is understanding exactly how many miles were already on him when he got here.

It's a thankless, brutal and violent position, and I somehow can't stand him but appreciate the hell out of him at the same time.

No - but I just looked at his accomplishments...there can be a case made that he should be.

I always thought he was really good. But the main thing I remember about him was that fumble that cost the 49ers a 3rd straight trip to the SB in 1990, and me no small amount of money. But i guess that's a good thing. Or else they would be the only team to win 3 in a row.

The part that I don't get was the age. I think he was 23 when he signed that extension. At 23-24 years old, you shouldn't be losing your burst.

Dumb post. He does have the talent and he has NOT gotten lazy. He plays as hard and tough as any player in the league. Are you sure you actually watch football?
Yup, I do. Please tell me how many times our last hall of fame running back tapped out on 3rd down? Because I don't remember Emmett coming off the field on 3rd down, if you want to call yourself a hall of fame talent, those are the standards you must meet. So what part of Elliot reminds you of a hall of fame talent??? He held out for the richest contract ever handed out to a running back and has been nothing but a disappointment. Now, are you sure you actually watch football? Because Elliot is the 2nd best back on this team?

That's great Zeke everybody wants a super bowl ring and a gold jacket.

Problem is you wanted a giant contract more and you just can't have it all. Because you need some help to get the ring and the jacket and that help comes in the form of a quality offensive line.

Your salary uses up valuable resources that could be put into quality blockers to help you achieve your goal.

Down deep you know the ring and the jacket won't impact your future in a positive enough way for you to forfeit any money and help the team acquire talent to get to a super bowl

I didn't notice any drop off in his play until 2019. Wasn't he the rushing leader in 2018? An overweight and out of shape rushing leader?
I dont remember which year he showed up overweight and out of shape rushing leader, but he was still ok runner.
but he lost his speed in the off season between 2016-17 he didnt work on keeping in shape, and keeping that speed.

Being rushing leader just means you get a lot of carries, maybe have good OL, and play most every week.

To me a really good back should get 1600 yds or more if they get enough carries, otherwise you have to look at avg per carry, not total yds.

Bottom line is Elliot could have been great RB if he had been more mature and had less desire to party, and more desire to be a great player.
Instead he just went quickly down hill to ordinary rb.

yep and 1 good season doesnt get him into hall of fame lol.
but that shows his mentality, he is spoiled and entitled, and has alway had things come easy, and now all that is left for him is the SB ring, (funny he didnt say rings lol , guess one will do for him lol) and he wants in Hof, and dont make him wait too long either !

My memory on this is a bit foggy. I thought he appeared to show up out of shape after he got signed, which would be 2019. That's when I also noticed he wasn't the same player. Others remember it happening a little sooner.

Poor Zeke if he only had a QB that the defenses feared how much better his chances for both.
Hey, 21 thanks for the memories but too many carries and hits have you almost at the end......:(
Exactly! Zekes career would have been much longer had he not been the focal point of every defense. Do you think defenses look at the Bills, Chiefs, Packers, Bucs, Rams and say if we stop the run game we win.

70 here, is tired of us not getting back to the Super Bowl in almost 30 years.
that and looking unprepared and sloppy in the playoff games?

jerry would tell us to be patient lol.
it is a process that takes......well more than 30 years !
jerry is older than u so maybe you can outlast him ??

Only problem is then his bozo son takes over !

That Goddell suspension cost him anychance of making Canton.

If that suspension doesn't happen he's a 3x NFL rushing champ and would of had a realistic chance of stealing the last all-decade team spot from either McCoy or Sproles.

His best shot would of been that route. 3x NFL rushing champ, all decade team, and 10k club would of at least given him a realistic shot of making it.
