Every year I get excited about the new season. I listen to and read all the talk from Jerry and the coaches and players and as usual I am disappointed. After all it’s been how many years? Last year I refused to get excited and they actually had a good year until they stumbled in the first round. So it’s a wait-and-see approach for me!

I think "they had a good year until they stumbled in the 1st round" erases any idea that they had a good year.

If you can't win a couple playoff games then it was just wasted draft position. That's how I look at it.

The 2021 season will be looked back on as just another failure.

The wait and see approach is the best option though for sure, but until they advance in the playoffs, don't get your hopes up. I don't care if they're 17-0.

Same but I always get sucked in somewhere in preseason. At this point I just give in…it’s easier

31 teams fail every football season. Only the Superbowl winner has a successful season. The goal is to win a Superbowl championship, everything else is a failure.

The only exception I may give is to rebuilding teams.

Yes.

Anything less than a Super Bowl is a failure.

That is the only thing that matters when you have a team that is supposed to be able to compete. The Cowboys seemed to have a team that was capable of competing last year, but they proved otherwise and couldn't even get past the Wild Card round. The 2021 Dallas Cowboys were failures.

Regarding rebuilding teams I see your point. The Super Bowl is an unrealistic goal for teams going through a rebuild. They almost welcome failure as to get higher draft picks. They won't ever admit it, but they do. They don't want to go 6-11 and miss out on drafting a Andrew Luck, Joe Burrow, or Justin Herbert. They would rather go 0-17 with a chance to draft the guy that can turn everything around for them.

the eagles throwing in the towel against the giants two years ago has paid compound dividends and it makes me sick

Every year I lose just a little bit more and I find it especially true as my kids 2 6 and 8 start getting more and more into sports….cowboys games are fun to watch with them but I certainly am not as rabid at 40 as I was at 30….it’s more about enjoying the moments now and less about the end product bc the likelihood of total success is very small

You're right about that for sure, and we are in a tough spot here as fans.

It would probably be better if they went 9-8 and snuck in....but won more than one playoff game in the same season.

Id consider that more of a success than a 14-3 and get bounced at home deal yet again.

I get excited every year. Excited to see the new players. My favorite thing is watching the new guys (draft or FA) and seeing how they do. Excited for Football in general. Excited to see how the team comes together. I don't get excited from the perspective of expecting the team to win a SB because it's just unrealistic with this team, but I get excited to see them try. That's sports. I don't just enjoy the good seasons, I enjoy "the ride" and I can't wait for it to begin. I love Football. Go Cowboys!!!

I wouldn't expect you to be super excited over the upcoming season. I would imagine there would have to be a reason for that kind of excitement.

I can't speak for anyone else, but my excitement level is usually tied to the previous season. Besides just being a little excited at the start of any season. So my excitement level is probably a 5 or 6 out of 10.

I know exactly how you feel, and I've tried that....a few times.

The last two times I tried to control my brain into not caring as much they had 13-3 and 12-4 seasons.

All it did for me was not even allow me to try to enjoy the ride....because all season long each time it was "doesnt matter, they will be one and done anyway in the playoffs."

I dont ever try to tell anyone how to feel, so please consider it friendly advice....It's a miserable way to be. At least allow yourself to enjoy a decent season and have hope if it happens.

Fair warning lol: I did get a lot better with it last year, and enjoyed things when they were good, and kept hope when they weren't......and was that much more bitter when Lucy pulled the ball away yet again.

But, somehow, someday....all 25 things this FO counts on to go right in a given season, will. Pure math, no?

It’s getting very close to football season. The excitement is through the roof. My adrenaline is already flowing. I guess some people love the game more than others

I'm not that excited because I know the passive approach they took during the offseason will likely have us knocked out in the first or second round. I no longer expect this team to win a superbowl, but as long as I'm entertained, I'll be fine. I just want to see what Micah Parsons does and see if Dak stepped his game up.
