Bringing back Maher let's me know they're looking for a strong legged kicker. But accuracy should be a judging point not distance. Why does it seem like Dallas goes out of their way just to be different?

Maybe this is the first go-around for the Cowboys to find a kicker, with more to come. There may be others to test in the not-too-distant future.

He was an UDFA not drafted and no. Not all of us loved that pick and most preferred Dicker, York, Brkic.

Get over it? How many games did Greg cost us by missing extra points or gimme field goals? The answer is multiple. This isn’t not addressing swing tackle or some backup depth. Dude is kicking extra points short! Can’t wait to lose games by missing more extra points or 30 yard field goals.

If they were confident in either kicker they wouldn’t be bringing in four guys before the first preseason game. Bringing in a familiar guy like Maher just says bring in a guy for insurance.
yes get over it.fort off see some of the absolute best Kickers taken high and have the same issues..happend recently. weve seen Folk and baily get the yips etc etc calm down and get passed it the actual team wil figure ot out NOT YOU internet gm..wannabes make me laugh,.go back to madden and Fantasy football.

Well hell, bring the guy in, by all means!
It’s a try out
I don’t expect it to lead to a signing
But he’s been in many camps and played in the nfl last year, so bringing him in is not some crazy idea
I suspect it could be as much about sending a signal as anything else

Sometimes kickers mature and turn out to be greatly better than they were in the past.
Hope it holds true for Maher. Things change. Some say nothing stays the same! :starspin:

My point was they needed to address this in March and April. You sign a free agent kicker or you draft one. You solve the issue before it becomes one. It’s been their approach to swing tackle and both defensive tackle/safety until recent years.

When kickers are going 4/11, 5/11, 6-/11 in camp, the chances are slim to none that the light magically goes on and they become Justin Tucker.

Your point is valid in that there is literally nothing available. But it’s only that way because they refused to make a move until the second week of August.

The brought in a kicker in April. There also wasn't much out there in March or April. I bet there's pretty much the same kickers available now that were available in March or April.
