Lol so how is he getting open this year?

I didn’t say he was a bad player just that he benefitted from a superior, true #1 WR that allowed him to get less focus. This past week was his first 100 yard game in forever and he’s not much over 50% on catches vs targets not to mention has at least one or two INTs to his credit bc sloppy routes.
He’s a very good #2 whom we are forcing balls to as if he is a #1.

Cedee Lamb is a very good NFL wide receiver. I’m glad he’s a Cowboy and I look forward to seeing him continue to improve. But….he’s not yet the elite receiver he was drafted to be. He’s been good, just not great. Again, at least not yet.

Below are the reasons why in my opinion Cedee Lamb has not yet cracked the list of elite receivers. I would rank him perhaps top 20 but nowhere near the top 10.
  • Finished 21st in receptions in 2021 with 79 receptions.
  • Finished 16th in yards in 2021 with 1,102 yds.
  • Finished 35th in TD receptions in 2021 with 6.
  • Had a streak of 17 straight games without 100 yards or more in a game. (Had his first 100 yd game since last Oct last Sunday vs Pack)
  • Went 9 straight games without a TD reception from 2021-22.
  • His rookie season of 2020, he definitely had a good year- 74 receptions for 935 yds and 5 TDs. That’s very good for a rookie, but he finished 27th in receptions and 22nd in yards, 32nd in TDs.
  • Has had a problem with drops in his first two years although it’s gotten better of late.
  • Is known to be a lazy route runner who doesn’t make route adjustments crisply.
  • Is excellent with yards after catch- finished top 5 last year.
  • Doesn’t possess great speed but is very quick.
Bottom line for me- Lamb is a really good receiver. He’s at best a low end #1 or high end #2 receiver. But the above makes it clear to me, he’s not “elite”. Maybe he can develop more in several areas and become elite.

I’m hoping he continues to work hard to improve his game. He’s still only 24. I’m not knocking the guy but just being honest about what kind of receiver he is at this point. Good but not great.
Consistent hands abd route running is what holds him back. He was compared to d hop. If he had close to Hopkins hands, he’d have way better stats. He’s already not fast. He has solid speed.. he needs to either separate more or catch in traffic to be elite.

I actually love the Hopkins comp - quick not fast, wins at all 3 levels with big catch radius and elite body control.

If he can clean up his route running…man he might get to Hops level.

we will probably not know for a couple more years until we get a new quarterback. shrugs.

I doubt if Ceedee is on this team for that long. Before long he will be tossed out after Dak blames him and claims that he needs to put the ball on his face mask for him to catch it. Meanwhile the front office continues to ignore all the overthrows, passes behind or to ahead of the receiver.

I don’t like him as a #1. Love him as a #2. Simple. He’s not, nor will ever be a legit #1 despite being treated and targeted as such. We had a good thing going, top offense in the league…had to screw it up and now we’re desperately courting a washed up, twice major injury guy to rescue a disaster created at WR, a disaster of our own making.

Lamb could be the best slot receiver in the game. But moving to a #1 is a lot to ask. Not flattening out his routes is hurting.

His stats have proven that he is a #1 receiver. There's no denying that. Team stats show that Amari Cooper was the catalyst that lit that offense on fire. Top 5 last year, bottom 5 this year. It doesn't matter who the better player is when it was having both on the field that made that offense hum.
No he wasn't, not alone...

it was a combo of players and circumstances ie pass happy vs run balance.. notice as we satrt to throw more CEEDEE has his best game as pro?

having a healthy Gallup, lamb, ced Wilson, cooper, turner, brown and Dak throwing to them 16 games is why we were a top offense. sayig it was AC is ludicrous. he wasn't winning us any more games than we have won this year and what did he do in the 2018 rams playoff game? where was AC in the 9er payoff game.. where was Cooper down the stretch late in the season.

pot is this is team game and AC was the lone factor. this is why Jerry was comfortable moving on from many players with larger contracts that just weren't as productive as they should be or those who wer e inconsistent or be responsible for a lot of mistakes etc etc

Ironic Dak comes back and in 3 games averaged 32 PPG, rush did not do that ever.,,he struggled to get us to 20 and that took 4 qtrs,,dak get back and getting some reps with his offense is starting to show.. too bad we are sitting here talking about offense when the defense going on 2 straight games have been horrible. loss last week on the defense. AC would not have been factor in any of our 3 losses that could have changed the outcomes.

When Lamb was a rookie he had more Dawg in him.

I remember being in Cuba watching the game. We were playing the giants 2 + years ago.

Dak just went down with that really bad ankle injury. Andy Dalton comes in and throws it right to Lamb. CATCH! Lamb does the shimmy right in their face to let them know we still have the momentum. He took a real big lick on that play too. Just got up and did the shimmy.

We still won that game. We didn't give the momentum up. He was a rookie then, but that mentality.

Willie…you’re right. Through 9 games this year, Cedee is 10th in receptions and 10th in yds, and tied for 4th in TDs. But my overall take on him through 2.5 seasons is still that he’s not yet an elite receiver.

are you basing Lamb on just one year? .. .this year ? ...and stats this year ? ....
