Tyler Smith has had an excellent year overall Don't disrupt this young players learning curve by trying to put old injured players in the spot and expecting a better result it's not going to happen.

Tyler Smith is the future and there will be some growing pains but he has done very well considering being a rookie.

Peters can’t tie his shoes - he should be released tomorrow.

Peters is going to be the backup for left guard and left tackle. If I'm not mistaken the coaches have already given him playing time in both spots.

Connor McGovern is obviously the weak link on OL.

McGovern is doing a nice job. When your Oline is widely considered a top 5ish unit, I'm not sure any of the links are too weak.

You erase Tyler Smith's penalties by moving him inside, limiting the space he has to work.

The move is not about Tyler Smith but also getting McGovern off the field.

The move is about playing your best 5 OL without messing up the chemistry too much.

Let's stop acting as if Tyler Smith has not been getting beat lately, plus committed some bone headed holding penalties that have hurt and killed drives. Back in my day, if you repeatedly got beat and/or committed drive-killing holding or illegal procedure penalties, you got benched for a series or two just to get you pissed off enough on the sideline to think about your mistakes, concentrate on what you need to do to fix them, then come back on the field and hope you play better. That's what needs to happen since these costly holding penalties and getting beat at times are suddenly starting to mount up. A little temporary discipline and punishment for your costly performance is in order.
Well, things have changed since back in your day. We now have the horseless carriage!

Realistically? I like Smith at Guard next game with Peters at LT until Tyron gets back and takes over for him. Smitty really struggled with Thibodeaux on speed rushes
huh?? I must have missed something. So you have seen enough from Peters to come to conclusions on him starting? Do you think the coaches just might have seen some things that has kept Peters basically on the bench?

I just dont get some of you. There is always a better player to replace what we have, right? AND we dont get to see a single practice to see how these guys are doing, and yet here you are making the starting lineup and moving a guy that has played lights out in Tyron's absence.

Bet you are thinking Tolbert should be stepping in for Gallup as well?

As run blocker he is fine, pass blocking is a very different story.

Dak was continually pressured and hit vs Giants.

So you think getting pissed will help an olineman think more about their job?
You think getting pissed will keep him from holding? Holding, especially by a tackle that has to block speed rushers is going to happen EVERY game. Step back off the ledge.

It is possible to express an opposing opinion without ridiculing the other person. Sometimes it requires a little extra effort, and sometimes the ridicule is warranted, but not always.

I have to disagree. I think he has been very solid on both. The Giants created pressure by bringing more rushers than we had blockers. They did target the left side which may have made it look like they were getting beat when it was really free rushers.

You can disagree all you like, but game film says otherwise.

Every opposing defense has targeted Cowboys left side.

There is a reason for that.

You don't even have to watch the coaches film to see this.

How's that coddling been working during the McCarthy era? Leaders of penalties back-to-back years and among the leaders in penalties for a 3rd year. Go play some golf.

I have watched quite a few video breakdowns and just don't find him getting beat any more than anyone else. Most clips show him doing a nice job one on one and working with Smith & TB on combo blocks. A couple times the defense has widened Smith then looped another defender outside the G's shoulder while he was helping TB and he couldn't quite get the cutoff. But most of those plays have taken so long that the ball still came out.

I mean Zach gets beat too. But none of them have been getting beat very often.
