While Connor McGovern’s play as a whole has been solid this season, the guard is not far removed from a brutal holding call against the Green Bay Packers in Week 10.

After surrendering a 28-14 lead in the second half, Dallas had the ball in overtime and a chance to still win. Pollard received a handoff and busted through the center of the line for a big gain, but the play was brought back for a holding call on McGovern.

The play stalled the drive, which was followed by Green Bay eventually winning the game 31-28. McGovern is convinced it wasn’t a hold even after watching the play afterward.

“Once I felt the back go past me, I let go. I didn’t grab anything,” McGovern said. “The ref said I tried to restrict him, tried to tackle him. Watching it on the replay, watching it on the iPad, I still don’t see it.”

Clear as day, the officials screwed the Cowboys over the Packers once again.

I don't know, our run defense was a little shaky.....:banghead:

There ya go. We're arguing about stuff we're probably all correct about. Are there bad calls due to human error? OF COURSE!

Are there "bad calls" because of some sort of bias or intent to control the game? Basic human nature says , yes of course!

Not much to do about it but either enjoy the game or get lost. Complain? I suppose that is an option. Not very productive. Fighting to be right? Not very productive either. To each their own, indeed.
I've been back and forth with some posters over this issue a couple of times and then started to lose the fun of the forum experience, getting angry and never ending with the discussion.

At the end I understood a couple of three things:

- Internet discussions never results in anything because the exchange is so limited that you will end up attacking and defending instead of listening.
- Both sides believe that the other side is completely blind to their argument, wich is false, the majority sees a partial truth in the other side argument, but there is no space to aknowledge it.
- In an intent to win we start calling each other "whiners, losers, crying " and worse.
- We are all here for a reason, wich is LOVE, as corny as it sounds, we love this team, because tradition, excitement, our fathers or brothers introduce us to the Cowboys, by accident, whatever it is, we should not get into over the top confrontations.

I'll try to correct my attitude towards rude confrontation in the future.

Go Cowboys! :flagwave:

Fortunately, there are some here willing to listen to another's point of view, and sometimes realize AND ADMIT they were mistaken.

You don't say.

Doesn't matter what side a defender starts, when he tries to change direction you can't "materially restrict" him per the rules. There's a reason you don't quote the rules in any way shape or form. Because you're busy trying shoehorn mansplain a non-call when there was clear as day a hold, by the wording of the rules. Try it sometime instead of lying.

Hey Marcus my brother if you look at your video closely you will also see that the Green Bay player being blocked by Tyler Biadiasz has his hand in his face mask and could be called for face masking or hands to the face possibly having offsetting penalties.

Although it is not a vicious hands to the face or face masking his hand is inside his face mask and it is a penalty that could be called.

Like I said before and will continue to reiterate holding ,hands to the face could all be called on every player on the offensive and defensive lines every play.

It's a battle and the players involved get a feel for the game and how the officials are calling it early on and expected to be repeatable throughout the game.

So if it's going to be called that closely if McGovern was holding. Our center was being face mask pure and simple and it wasn't called.

Why because that would have been detrimental to the desired result the league wanted at the time.

No he doesn't. Blow it up to full size. His hand is flat on the shoulder pad, not even grabbing it. A classic hands to the face is when a defender pushes up on the facemask. Where do you see Biadasz' head pushed back? When the defender moves his hand away, do you see Biadasz' helmet go with it? Again, look at the defender's fingers. They're not curled up on the facemask or even on the shoulder pad. Y'all are super creative. Lol.

So on the topic, do you think this is a hold by McGovern?

I blew it up just like you did and you see the hands to the face and the thumb coming out from the bottom of the face mask just like I do.

I see McGovern's hand on his side just like I see the defenders hand inside are centers face mask.
I don't see McGovern impeding his arms from grabbing the running back I see McGovern pushing him backwards and to the side. Just like I don't see our center's face mask being wrenched to one side or another.
It's how the refs want to interpret it are you allowed to have your hand on the guy side or not are you allowed to have your hand inside the guy's face mask or not.

Are You allowed to have it on the guy side if you are not impeding him from grabbing the running back.
Are you allowed to have your hands inside the guy's face mask as long as you're not moving his head.

It's all in how they want to interpret the letter of the rule.

Honestly I don't think either one should be a penalty with the way they were calling the game.
But if one is a penalty the other should be also That is my feeling.

Hey Marcus I've never really been called creative but after 15 pages I just figured I'd throw something new into the mix. Lol

As with any game, one play didn't decide it. And the reality is a game never goes by where people will agree that every call was right. Bottom line is the Packers played a better game than the Cowboys did.

Greg please come out of the dark ages there is no conspiracy the owners know exactly what's going on here.

The Cowboys had no chance of winning that game The Packers were going downscope fast and had a Thursday night game and the Sunday night game with the Eagles after our game.

If they lose to us there's not a threat of hope and nobody watches either one of those big prime time games.

The league was not going to let that happen They were going to make sure that our game with the Packers was a competitive game because it was a prime time game but we were going to fall on the sword because one more loss for the Packers and nobody would watch those other two primetime games.

Believe it or not Greg there is actually bean counters that look ahead and plot the financial impact of wins and losses of the teams that are playing in the primes viewing spots.

No they don't have tin foil hats on They are guys that specialize in making money because that's what it is a business
Totally ridiculous. These accusations have absolutely no concrete evidence to support.

Hey Greg maybe at some point the league might provide you some concrete evidence but I wouldn't hold my hand on my behind waiting it may grow there.

That's kind of the object manipulate the game to a point where you get maximum profit but the casual fan can't really detect what's going on.

There is no conspiracy theory it's all about marketing and not losing revenue.

It's very simple but the head in the sand group that still believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny fail to want to believe this.

The league must put out a good product to generate good revenue to do that the game must be competitive They control that with the referees.

They have no choice there's only 17 regular season games it's not 160 game baseball season where you are bringing in revenue everyday for half a year.

The owners are on board with this They know they have to fall on the sword sometimes.

Why do you think a team like ours is the most profitable in the league because Jerry has taken profit over substance and fallen on the sword to enhance the bottom line while giving up the chance to win a Super bowl.
I don’t deny what the league and Cowboys has become. I’ve been a critic as well.

But again, there’s absolutely no concrete evidence. It’s our burden to prove there is wrongdoing either organized or individual corruption by the officials.

All we need for an outside investigation is one thread of evidence , like a whistleblower.

In todays immediate information world especially when officials are a bottom feeder as far as compensation compared to owners and players you’d think there’d be at least one disgruntled official who’d spill the beans or rat on the league.

If these Conspiracy Theorist truly believe the NFL is Fake Football why are they still engulfed passionately with their team ?

Naaa, it’s just sour grapes on why their team lost . They probably blame the corrupt world as they see it for their disappointing lives as well. Lol

I'm sure the league has established a disciplinary doctrine for people who would spill the beans or rat.

If you truly get a grasp of how much money is involved here which is probably like asking you to tell us where space ends up.

You would understand that when you have unlimited funds you can cover all the bases and then some.

This all didn't happen overnight it has evolved into a finely tuned money making machine.

You don’t pay attention? Or you just say things without knowledge. The Giants game and the very clear pi’s on Brown. Look it up and many more.

To say there is only “bad calls” when we lose shows ignorance to the facts.
I don’t see these Conspiracy Theorists crediting bad calls when we win.

How predictable
Didn't mean to pop your balloon.

As bad as it is and as many bad calls as there are it's still better than anything else out there.
Beyond that it's all we got so we got to live with it accept it.
Pretty much like all the other stuff we've grown to live with and accept that is no longer pure

It’s your opinion that the league has created an organized corruptive ring of officials that begins at the NCAA and UIL levels?

Or do they just recruit officials who they believe they can corrupt from the Amateur level. Officials who have regular jobs in offseason .

I’m not sure you’ve thought this all out. I’d like to hear your details on how the league has created this long succession over the years of corrupted officiating ?
