Gotta stop freaking out on draft day guys, let the dudes show us if they can play or not. Usually takes a few years but we are so impatient nowadays.

I for one am done being disappointed on draft day. I’m not a scout and can’t reasonably criticize a pick until I see them develop. Keep this in mind with Tolbert, as none of the 3rd round WR’s have shown much up to this point. This will not be the case for their whole careers.

I was so mad when they took Tyler Smith, and also when they didn't move up a few spots for Derwin James.

You have fun with that. I'll still have opinions.

I'm not going to follow the draft for months and then just shrug my shoulders when it takes place so I don't offend anybody.

- I cannot explained how elated I am now with how the Randy Gregory scenario has turned out good luck for us, in Not being able to re-sign him,
while Denver (along with their several other problems) seems stuck with injury prone Gregory, (only a mere 4 games played this '22 year)

- While we have drafted a rookie Sam I Am Williams - who has a freakish measurement numbers - and thus far has translated those size/speed ratio to the playing field.

- As quick off the ball, wiry and rubber-agile as Randy is, ..he has never display the sheer brute power and play strength that Williams is putting up as a rookie..

- Sam has yet to be in an NFL strength program, but several times, several gams, he's already overwhelming these vet OL guys and pressing the pocket.
Williams is 260+ pounds, possesses 4.4 speed - and plays like it,
And he's surprisingly very powerful and already knows how to work his arms and get off blocks
He's an explosive player that has a knack for rushing the passer and getting into the backfield.

- It's because of Sam Williams great ability and potential, that vet Dorace Armstrong is gonna be allowed to walk as a UFA next offseason.
And Armstrong has finally turned into a solid, productive pass rusher himself. He's finally displaying the rush knack they hoped he'd have when they drafted him.

- But I don't see Cowboys giving Dorace a lucrative offer to remain a starter, when they have someone like Williams in the wait.
I still maintain that Williams reminds me of another version of Khali Mack, and that kind of explosiveness and potential.

i believe the Cowboys thought (and hoped) Tolbert's rookie season would at least be like Michael Gallup's rookie season.

But i'd also like to believe that he'll eventually develop in a slower path, much like in the way of Cedrick Wilson, although his draft grade was much higher than Ceddy's draft status.

You aren't alone. I was fine with the athletic freak sam williams but I wanted Jermaine Johnson over Tyler Smith
A lot of us wanted Jermaine Johnson. He marked as one of the most athletic true defensive ends in the draft, so it's understandable when some of us were upset when the Cowboys passed him up for Tyler Smith. Tyler Smith has been a pleasant surprise, so big kudos to Will McClay, his scouting team and the front office. I personally like Sam Williams as the next best true defensive end after Jermaine Johnson, so it was amazing to see Sam Williams still there for the taking late in the 2nd round when thankfully the Cowboys swiftly picked him up. That credit goes all to Dan Quinn. I can't believe so many teams passed up Sam Williams TWICE, and I'm sure they are regretting now just like Sam Williams is going to make sure they regret passing him up for many years to come. Sam Williams paired up on one end with Micah Parsons on the other is going to be amazing for many years to come for our Cowboys, as will having Tyler Smith at either O-Tackle or Guard!

There are many here on this board that are professional scouts, as well as twice as many GM's.

Yea, I want happy we passed on JJ. I probable would have gone:

1 - Jermaine Johnson
2 - Nicholas Petite Frere

Which at this point in the season I still probably would’ve done.

I mean let’s have some nuance here. Obviously I can be disappointed if someone I’ve wanted to pick gets passed over for a prospect I’m not too high on. But to be in upheaval and say the team is wrong because the guy I wanted wasn’t picked seems pretty foolish.

At this point, this team hits on just about as many picks as any top tier drafting team. I can have my reservations about a selection, but to curse the FO at this point seems like a waste of time. They’ve done enough to not freak if the guy I want isn’t taken.
