I don't know why anyone would be upset with him.

It's a good deal for him and for the Cowboys. It's a good draft for a TE, even in the bottom half of the rounds. There should be a TE worthy of a pick 1-3 that should have a lot more upside than Schultz. He gets another $9m in the bank and if he's as good as $10m plus contract he wants, he'll get it if he performs well enough this year to deserve it..

Yeah, i ain’t mad at him. Dak will miss him, they had some chemistry. I don’t suspect he will do much elsewhere. I am surprised, not at the amount but the length of the contract. His market must’ve been sparse because one would assume he would be trying to get some longer term financial security. One year?!?
Isn’t 9m less than he made last year?

Bear in mind, Ferguson and Hendershot were coming along nicely, and I expect we will be drafting one more this year. Plus, it's a 1 year deal, so we might bring him back next year if needed.

That's a ridiculous take. He chose to take a gamble, and it didn't pay off. That was just a personal choice, not a character flaw. Why are you taking this so personally?
I wonder if his agent had something to do with that gamble?
If so, see ya.
That gamble caused "his family" some serious quan.

Oh yeah, I really like Fergy and I think Hendershot isn’t far behind. They are both very adequate, maybe as good or even will be better, just saying Dak seemed to really like Shultz…but yeah probably not worth the money

I’m glad Dallas didn’t overpay for him again, he was decent but easily replaceable. Good luck down there in H-Town, he will need it.

Well and that's my point. The FO probably didn't think he was worth the money, and Dak was building a nice little niche with Fergy and Hendershot. So, I don't think the dropoff will be big. Plus, I think a player like Kincaid or Kuntz or even Michael Meyer from Notre Dame could be adequate replacements or improvements.

I def understand why he signed this deal. It's why I started the thread about the possibility of him returning on a 1-year deal.
  • With TEs being one of the strongest draft positions, it brought all FA values down.
  • This limited his options, sign a long-term for less value now or
  • Take a 1-year deal, hoping 2024 draft for TEs won't be as strong and the market will correct itself.

Guess we know his value now. Glad we didn’t overpay to keep him.

Only problem is he is going to a dumpster fire. Can’t see him putting up much stat wise that might get him a bigger deal

The only reason he was tagged he belonged to the Dak glee club as not a special talent in the eyes of many.
BOOM another glee club member bites the dust while Lamb and Gallup aren't on the Glee Club practice field the other day catching passes.
Now the 3 yr for 36 million well let's just say don't believe everything you read or hear.
He is lucky the Texans gave him the 9 million for a year.
Another one bites the dust..........

Ugggghhreee!
Def agree also that Meyer or Kincaid would probably be an upgrade over Schulz. I don’t really want to use a first on a TE though honestly.
