Enjoy your $9M in Houston. I would have went to the 49ers or Kansas City if I was Schultz

To me the result we are seeing was cast last year when Schultz decided to take a shot on himself.

Dallas picked up two young TEs - 4th round and undrafted.

He was injured this past year - PCL injury. Although not a debilitating as an ACL for most players, the PCL can be a problem for some players.

This allowed two young players to get more air time. It gave the coaches and the mgmt a chance to see what they were capable of doing.

If you follow the Jerry quotes he makes mention of referring to the tandem as, "stepping up". Not good for Schultz.

Then the draft present itself with a strong year for TEs. naturally weakens the market for current TEs as stated by other posters in this thread.

I don't think it was bad advice he got, it was mor the case of a series of unfortunate events.

He will head to Houston where the new QB is going to need a safety valve. That Texans offence is not going to be very good. So he could end up in a system where the TE is the #1 option other than the RB to keep their young QB out of sack department.

He is just taking another chance on himself, and we can only wish him luck along with ourselves. Let's hope the two young TEs develop.

I wonder if his agent had something to do with that gamble?
If so, see ya.
That gamble caused "his family" some serious quan.
It seems likely the agent would have been a serious part of the decision.

You don't think an average TE getting the advice to turn down 12mil/season was bad advice? I think that's a strange take.

His one year deal is less than the Cowboys paid him last year, isn't it? Plus he gave up a higher probability of earning some playoff cash.

Surprised that everyone is underselling Schultz. He was clutch for Dak and made so many key plays/TD's for us. I like our young TE's but none of them run routes/make plays like Schultz. Hoping we don't miss him but I really appreciate his abilities.

Not me. I like Schultz, and I think we'll miss him. However, you can't pay the Schultzes of the league over 10 mil/season.

I doubt those teams were offering $9 mill a year.............and neither were we............Texans offered the most and he followed the money, cant blame the guy, NFL careers are short.

He made $11 mill last year and is going to make $9 mill this year.............that is $20 million for two years of work...........I would say Schultz is doing ok for himself;)

You should do something. He has already made money than you will in your entire life.
How does that make you better than the person you are berating? You aren't getting paid either and holding that over someone is petty especially when you are being a hypocrite about it.

An overall question for the board. Are we overrating Ferguson/Hendershot or are we undervaluing the tight end position? I think we need to draft another tight end. Especially a big blocking one.

If you do a Google him signing with the Texans is everywhere. This link is just one of many out there.

The article you referred to is from SB Nation, NOT the Texans, if they signed somebody wouldn't you think they would immediately post it on their website? But like I said, maybe they're waiting on a physical or something similar, but my post specifically said I wanted confirmation from the Texans themselves, the NFL or some other OFFICIAL notice. I don't care how many "sources" or "reports" you quote, the ONLY thing that matters is the Texans signing him, because they have to sign him to a contract and pay him.

Sheesh, I also said it's very likely that he did agree to sign with the Texans, seldom do you have a lot of "reports" and it's not true.

But put it this way, if you think you've won the lottery, but don't have the ticket in front of you, only "think" you remember the numbers and they are the winning numbers, are you going to march into your boss's office and quit your job before you verify the numbers on your ticket? Probably not.

ALL I'm saying is that I want to hear/read it from the Texans themselves, don't know why that's such a problem....

That was just one of many articles. Schultz signing with the Texans was made official quickly. Hopefully you’re still not questioning it. Lol

I like The Sargent and wouldn't be disappointed to see him stay, but he is a classic 'tweener' who might not fit in all that well on a run oriented offense.
I think this is a great point that has been underestimated. Big Mike is committed to running the ball more and blocking was the least of Schultz’s strengths.
