i see ZKE as a backup on another NFL team behind an well established starter, ..
.. or competing for a possible starter's role on an NFL team that clearly does not have an established starter.

- As much as i really loved him when he was da bomb at the height of his early Cowboys career, ..I do not/would not want him back as a backup RB here with Cowboys.

- While I still think he can be a very productive, hard to stop goal line runner - I don't think his current game and status is conducive for what this new direction of offense with the RBs
is going, and needs to go.

- I think this new McCarthy/Schott led RB attack will place more emphasize on splash big plays and quick hitting running, and open field in the second level of defenders.
Zeke has very little speed for that at this stage.

- Those misdirection and stretch plays where it depends very heavily upon a RB quickly getting into and out of a slanting hole, Zeke lumbers and labors now to get to the stage.
He's running in thick mud. I really want to see what younger, more burst, more springy RBs can do for this offense, than what the current Zeke can bring.
Wow, ok excellent analysis of where Zeke is, and how the new offensive want to play. I assume from what you're saying a power run scheme would be a good landing spot for Zeke.

As a coach and NFL GM I don't think you can sign him this early in the season. You have to give your young guys a chance to prove what they can do.

One has more than enough tape to know what Zeke can do for you. You are obligated to figure out the unknowns first before making any decisions.

Last, one would hate to pull the trigger early for a vet FA only to find out in the season, due to an injury, you need another position filled with the cap dollars. Now most teams can afford anyone they want and manipulate the cap, but do you really want to make a quick move when you don't have to?
Agreed. There's no hurry. Zeke needs to rest...while at the same time being ready to go.

I still say, he's gonna get picked up. As teams evaluate their roster and draft....there's gonna be a spot for him. Even as a "back up" or "insurance". I also *think*...he's gonna show he's not as washed up as many of his....er...critics...claim.

That's fine but it's all totally conjecture on your part anyway. The DESIRE to have splash plays...I mean doesn;t EVERYONE want hat? Didn;t Kellen want that? Even then...Tony Pollard severely declined down to 3.8? ypc against the 9ers. Barely ONE more yard than zeke.

Hardly Splashing.

Now...if the new scheme wants that...GREAT! (like everyone does)...they are gonna have to make WAY bigger changes than just ditching zeke. I will believe it when I see it...and through the whole season including playoffs.

- Which one of the two is still here on the roster ... ? .

..- and which one of the two is now cut- release gone from the roster ?

One has been kept and franchise tagged because he is a splash big play maker ...... one has been cut-release because he can no longer provide burst and big splash plays

You guys need to think and sort things more thoroughly beyond your personal biases and favoritism.

Why would Zeke want to go to the Chargers to play under a low football IQ offensive coordinator again??

He'd be an interesting fit in both spots, but I think he may get more work as a charger.

Hes gonna spell Nick Chubb?

i can tell you right now....he wont get more than 10 touches

Chargers would be ideal.....
There isn't a chance I'm ever taking Ekeler off the field for Zeke. 10 might be generous. The only reason the Chargers are rumored is because of Kellen but Kellen knows Zeke too well for that.

Good chance Ekeler won't be with Chargers this upcoming season;
he rquested a trade, and the FO granted Ekeler permission to seek out another team.

Chargers only be ideal cuz Kellen is very familiar ties with Zeke.
Plodding power runs, blitz block and very productive/effective goal line TD runner.

And last i heard Chargers current star RB Austin Ekler is in the midst of trade rumors.

Could ZKE end up being up starting feature back,.. rather than be Austin's backup ?

Stay Tuned. ..
Plodding power runs? Lmao. More like one step and a ankle tackle.

Propane because the Chargers will be a top 3 offense. With a threat at QB the running game will improve.
The low brow play caller is now running our show.

The Chiefs would be an ideal place for Zeke. Well ran organization, not expecting too much, and roles are defined. Being a winning franchise is also a plus.
