Let’s see, you’re speeding, not wearing a seatbelt and when pulled over you become uncooperative? Maybe he had one of those lounge lizards waiting for him so they could have another kid. He’s got 12 already so what’s another one?

Seriously, this guy needs to grow up. When the police pull you over, you have to be respectful. If you’re respectful to them, then they’re more likely to be respectful to you. This is super important for people of color who have to be extra cautious which is a shame.

There’s a lot of good cops out there. Only the bad ones end up in the news. Hill started it all with his “I’m entitled” attitude. If I was a cop, I’d be pissed too having to deal with the dregs of society on a daily basis. These guys are under a lot of stress. I haven’t seen video of the cop beating up Hill, but if he did, he should face the consequences.

WRONG! There is absolutely no law that says u must be respectful to the police, Supreme Court has many rulings in regards to this. Cops need to do their job with a SMILE!

You shouldn't be making someone get out of their car for a traffic ticket bc you got your feelings hurt. Write the ticket and move on. Cops way to emotional.

There was an easy way out for hill...first just listen to the cop and roll down the window, comply directly with the asks and move on with your ticket...the cop might have taken it to a spot it didn't need to but hill was acting like an entitled punk.

Oh and he could have maybe not given them a reason to pull him over in the first place...there's that...

Yeah there are crappy cops out there but in this case the outcome could have been totally different if he would have just complied...both him and the cop have blame in the outcome

You will also find cops who clearly abuse their power when the people they are interacting with having done anything wrong but the cop is on nothing more than a ego trip.

As far as cops abusing their power, Hill's story is nothing more than a 2 out of ten (with 10 being the worst). Hill didn't get the crap beat out of him and he was being a smart butt IMO. However, because he is a famous NFL star, this is very much newsworthy.

totally agree - and the challenge here is this situation could have easily stopped if he would have simply complied - didn't have to be nice or "respectful" just a simple yes, roll the window down, here's my license...etc.

What bothers me in this case is how he (hill) is making himself out to be a victim - the whole reason he was pulled over to begin with was because he was driving recklessly and putting others lives at risk. This younger generation (sub 30) has a different thought about complying with law enforcement, for whatever reason, and many don't seem to understand that while you can be uncooperative to the police they can also take things to another level. A lot of times, the level they take it to (detaining, handcuffing, removing from vehicles) might seem extreme but it is within the operating procedures to allow them 1) to do their job of law enforcement and 2) protect themselves.

Anyone purely defending hill and saying this was complete cop brutality is completely ignoring hills actions that preceded the cops response. Could a more judicious and cool response from the cop mitigated this situation, yes, but there was no reason for it to get there in the first place.

The only thing that warrants that level of force is if the person is a threat. Obviously cops have massively leeway to call a person a threat which an issue of its own, but unless the cop was a 12 year old boy, there was no real threat to his safety. Hill had already given him the necessary documents for the cop to process the citation. The cop was just mad that Hill was acting like a jackass and I don't think a officer having a tantrum warrants the force used.

Simply put - in this case the risk threat is a traffic stop with a citizen behind a tinted window refusing to roll it back down.

Again not saying the cop didn't go too far, but reality is if any other of us is stopped in a csr with tinted windows and refuses to roll down and comply then the perceived threat to the cop is magnified.

Personally no doubt Hill's "management team" is trying to be proactive for his image.

What Hill should have said was "I was out of line, had an attitude as I was in the wrong. However, I think the police should have handled themselves better as well as I thought they wen't over the top having dragged me out from my car and rough handled me".

well in all fairness, those who have complied have certainly faired better than those who have not. Dont give a cop a reason, best rule of thumb, do as asked and dont give a reason to escalate.

It’s really this simple. A Cop out on the beat is always on alert when pulling someone over. They have to be prepared for anything and are therefore very stressed. If you show them respect right off, then they get less and less tense and on edge. It’s a very stressful job many donot seem to understand.
