Another nice article debunking the Romo cannot carry a team myth

What an excellent read. Exactly why I look to BTB from my cowboys information and nowhere else.

You look the fan bloggers such as "Real Dirk Gently" as your authoritative source for Cowboys info?

My take on the article is it in on the other extreme of Romo-loving -- it makes excuses for just about everything.

In other-words it's completely unbalanced.

My personal preference is for sports journalism that provides both perspectives fairly and equally. It's very rare today, but not impossible to find.

I value that guys opinion more than any of the yahoos at ESNPD or other places (except Broaddus). The reason for that is because this guys opinion is actually based on fact rather than narrative.

Journalism has gone from finding facts to build the narrative to selecting facts that you can use to fit your narrative. What's your issue with this guys opinion btw (that is if you read it)?

I would be interested to read something that provided an objective look at Romo. I think it is safe to say that he has his warts but some of the vitriol that comes from what passes for journalists makes me sick. It is nice to see something that shows despite his occasional brain farts it is not all his fault.

His issue is that he doesn't write for Green Bay.

My basic issue with is the article tries to hard to spin a QB who has a career QB rating of 80 in the playoffs. I see excuses such as swollen hands, WRs coming off of ankle sprains, poor pass protection etc. All the usual fair.

His playoff 80 QB rating speaks for itself -- it's neither horrible or particularly good. Let's not go crazy here.

Well the jest of the article doesn't say Romo is a HOF or the greatest playoff QB. Its debunking a commonly used myth that Romo does not elevate his team or can carry his team to victory.

Romo has to play better in the playoffs, and he cannot throw 3 INTs in a win or go home type setting. But look at how bad this team was in all aspects of the game. Terrible Oline, terrible running game, terrible defense, and yet we were right there. Hell Dan Bailey makes a fg he normally makes or if Dez's hands were an inch shorter we are in the playoffs. A near playoff team with a bottom 5 running game and bottom 5 defense, I would say that we have a quarterback that is capable for elevating his team and carrying it.

Thanks for posting this. I hope it all comes together for the Cowboys this year. Romo deserves it.

Romo wouldn't be alone on such a list, very few QBs actually can.

The article consisted of lots of factual evidence. Did you read it?

Good write up but the haters will hate. They're too ignorant or just plain stupid to see the facts. They don't watch the games but get their takes from the talking heads at ESPN.

This is an opinion piece. It debunks nothing, anymore then a slam piece proves Romo can not win. The entire way you post your piece invites argument instead of good discussion. If argument is what you want, then this will surely get it for you. If discussion is the objective, then you are wide of the mark on how you posted this IMO.

I read it. It included just about every pro-Romo fact there is. In fact, I am on board with 100% of those pro-Romo facts. My point is -- that's all there is in the article -- Pro-Romo facts. Really nothing to counter-balance it.

It's fine piece of writing for a fan blog -- but journalism it ain't.

You may be right, but to be fair, I've seen worse writing from actual "Journalists".

I always admire the name calling of those who don't buy into the Romo love.

Romo is not and has never been the reason why this team has not had a lot of playoff success. Without him we would not even sniff the playoffs. Some people seem to forget the QB hell we were in between Aikman and Romo. Unfortunately we have wasted a lot of Romo's prime years on Wade Phillips and Garrett trying to be both the HC and OC. I really think we have a real good chance to have a "special" season this year and Tony Romo will be a HUGE part of it!!!!!
