Romo's interceptions

Romo has thrown plenty of INTs in his career that are his fault. He's also thrown plenty of INTs that can be blamed on other players. There is nothing wrong with placing blame where it belongs; it's not "making an excuse for Romo," it's what actually happened.

Because some fans understand that football is not a black/white sport. Usually, multiple parties are at "fault" on any given plays. Other fans, however, prefer the simplicity of blaming the qb for all the team's ills.

Most people don't watch most games though. Stats are pretty much what we have to reference after the game. If the receiving target causes the INT, the INT should be on his stat sheet. Not the QB's.

I get what your saying, but it would be too ambiguous without intimate knowledge everyone's assignments and the playbook.

It's not another players fault every time, Tony is to blame for some of his INT's for sure. I don't see how you can put the two on him yesterday though. First was on a Hail Mary (went through Dez's hands) and the second was Tanner bringing his defender right to the path of the ball (first down to Bease).

Tony has 5 INT's this year and all of them have been of the fluky type variety.

Week 1: Twill running wrong route and the ball bounces off of him into a Giants player.
Week 4: The infamous INT that was a great play by Trevathan.
Week 5: Ball is tipped up in the air at line of scrimmage and WASH player gets it out of the air.
Week 6: Hail mary that somehow goes thru Dez's hands. looked like about as perfect of pass as you could get with the perfect player to catch it. And the other INT, Tanner bring his defender into the pass for an INT.

I guess the part that bothers me is The need for Garrett or someone else to justify his interceptions.

Garrett doesn't "justify" anything, he just answers the questions. You were obviously daydreaming when he put the blame squarely on Tony for the Denver interception.

I'm no Romo apologist but one int. was a hail mary and the other was the running back running the wrong route. Romo should have seen it but the truth is he expected everyone to be where they were supposed to be.

This happens to all QB's. Romo's are not the only ones who run the wrong route sometimes.

And that's a very good point. I think we see enough of what really happens on the field now that when it's blatantly obvious the INT is on the target and not the QB (like the Dez endzone whiff), that the receiver can get the INT. Tons of stats in this league are ambiguous anyway. The most obvious one being drops by a receiver.

There is no need to justify his ints. to me, you, the media or anyone else. just say "an interception was thrown. Next question" we all watched him rip into Tanner after he threw it. We know something happened

Yep, seems like a weird time/season to be complaining about Romo's INTs and why he "doesn't get blamed for them"

it wouldn't bother you if you saw the game and saw exactly what happened but then that requires being open minded somthing I dont think you can be toward Romo.

I'm not sure what quote specifically you're referring to, but I would bet Garrett was asked about it...

It needs justifying only because of the very silly notion that somehow persists that Romo is turnover prone.
Truth is he is one of the most efficient and effective QBs in the history of the entire league.
And this year he's well behind Payton but as good as ANYONE else.

His 3-1 TD ratio is really good. And yes of those 5 about 4 can be easily understood.

But every INT he throws is labeled as some Matt Barkley lob right to a defender.
Truth is Romo might have 2 of those terrible picks over an entire year.

I read a blog yesterday that referred to his second one as "untimely," unjustly bringing up the choker label.

In all seriousness, Romo's interception against the Broncos is the only one that has been his fault this year. He's played some fantastic football.

I don't know about that. It seems Escobar's participation in the offense has dropped since that route, and he was pulled immediately after a screw up yesterday - no leeway given for some reason.

Once upon a time Romo didn't care about perception. But since historically the media would have a field day pointing out what otherwise would be meaningless stats to support an agenda. Garrett and Romo have to go out of their way to counter the general negative perception.

I want to say 1/4 of all his career interceptions can be put at the feet of his receivers. What was it 2 years ago it seemed almost all of his INTs were off of his receivers hands or feet into the waiting arms of defenders. The 1st INT yesterday was a hail mary a play to end the half. I like aggressiveness and really do not count them because there is zero momentum attached. Due to the offense Romo does not wait on the receiver he lets it go based on where the receiver is supposed to go if the receiver falls down, runs the wrong route an INT is possible. Aikman ran a similar offense and sometimes stuff happens but no need to change the offense now.
