You mean 50th place in the King of Mardi Gras?
Krew of what?
Argus?
In Metarie?

that is 50th tops and probably way lower.

kind of like your kid winning a local track meet and then saying he is king of the Olympics.

:)

We aren't. The Saints are were the worst in NFL history before Ryan got there and made them a legitmate top 3 defense. The Saints allowed 2000 less yards with Ryan than in the previous year. 125 yards less per game.

So Rob Ryan all by himself was the factor in that improvement?

No other factors came into play?

Why couldnt he do that swell of a job anywhere else he has been?

I mean with the results he got it musta been like he found some coaching biogenesis clinic with coaching PED's, Roids, HGH,

Nothing like a little revisionist history to make a thread go. The guy did nothing special here. Just because things went well in NO for 1 season does not mean they will continue that way, nor does it mean he would have done well in Big D. He's a Ryan - good riddance!

Also, what people seem to forget, but more like won't admit...Ryan's scheme was complex, would take a while to learn. When the injuries started, he would not, more like refused to adapt or simplify it for all the new players. So here and his others places is why he didn't do that swell of a job elsewhere.
But when he went to the Saints, he did simplify it from the start. So that has a lot to do with it too. As well as other factors as you mentioned.

We were one of the worst ever!! There's no disputing it. The numbers don't lie on this one...

Really?

He is not a great coach.

He's a loud mouth and had nothing going on here or in Cleveland.

Bree's is the answer for him ..

an offense that scores more than 30 pts a game and doesn't expose Ryan's defense to to much time on the field.

We'll see.

Time will tell.

Glad he's gone.

I agree with most of this but I can't see why you're happy he is gone after seeing who we replaced him with.

not mad at rob ryan, but don't miss him.
he was just a thumb in a damn..... it was bound to crack...
sadly, the crack is going to get bigger until management fixes it.

Of course it wasn't ALL Ryan. But give credit where credit is due. Ryan is doing something right

Ryan replaced a Super bowl winning defensive coordinator/Jim Johnson disciple Steve Spagnuolo. Spags, got the exact same amount of time with largely the same defense + or - a few un-proven players here and there, but produced much, much better results.

Our defensive roster was/is hot garbage that couldn't be salvaged by another great defensive mind in Wade Phillips. Seems like people forget that. We couldn't go into games and beat offenses head up anymore because we lacked (still lack) power in the trenches. But Rob had them playing really well in 2012 before being gashed with injuries because he was able to mask stuff like that (except against a run heavy Seahawks team in Seattle).

Give Ryan respect. You're mad at Jerry. Not him.

I don't understand why people don't understand the dynamic between the offense playing bad and a defense playing bad. A DC can be 'bad' in one stop, without doubt if his offense can't sustain drives or constantly turns the ball over. A lot of the game-plan at a particular moment is dictated by the tenor of the game.

Rob Ryan wouldn't have to worry as much in being aggressive with the way the Saints offense is. If he goes aggressive and they give up a big play, he may be more than confident enough that Brees can compensate, so he doesn't shy away. The same was the case when Wade was here. TOs were an issue, because our defense had issues with TOP on our offense and the lack of running the ball to control fatigue. We use to break in the late 3rd and fourth quarter.

Oh no doubt. But check the stats I posted on the first page. We were the 3rd worse defense in the history of the NFL from a statistical standpoint. The Saints are literally the worst. Their 440 yards per game makes our 415/gm look decent.

This idea of being the worst defense in history statistically means nothing nowadays, considering the way the game is. Back in the 90s, an offense putting up 300 yards was an achievement. If you don't break 300 nowadays on a normal basis, you absolutely suck. Every defense today is going to be among the worst ever.

you said biogenesis. Its true. I don't know why the Browns didn't make the playoffs with him with him being so great n all.
