no trade ups in the first round, no qb's in the top 3 rounds.....that's my 2014 draft mantra

You know Johnny College is not going to be a Cowboy. Lets debate if aliens really exist instead. Romo and the Cowboys are married for the next 2-3 years. Drafting a QB to sit out his rookie contract on the bench is not smart.

Unless Jerra moves up 10 spots he half more of a chance to be Queen Latifa's hairstylist than actally draft Johhny Foosball.

And if he could move up 10 spots, why draft this manchild A&M idiot when he could half . . . lips ovulating . . . a Bortles or a Bridgewater (don't no one tell me Bridgewater is not as good or better than Johnny Foosball)..

But HOW can Jerra movie up? Surrender draft choices when we half the world's worst defense already? Give them quality players that we don't half or players like Romo who are elderly and injured?

Nein! Nein!
It won't happen i am sorry to tell you mens and womans..

But that is like closing the barn door once the horse gets out..............too late.

The extension was given, so nothing can be done at this point regardless of if it was a good move or not.

I respectfully disagree. I don't really have a strong opinion on JM one way or the other, but if they feel like he's a potential star and they pass on him because of the Romo extension, all they're doing is compounding the original mistake.

Here's the thing about this ...... if the Cowboys want him, if the Cowboys believe in him, then they should go make it happen. No waiting around hoping he falls. Make the trade. Deal with the consequences later.

Jerry will draft johhny football if he falls to 16(which he wont),i have never been more sure of anything.

If the Cowboys got him, what good would it do? We could have Payton Manning next year but if the defense cannot make the other team punt, or the defense can't let a team get 40 first downs, what the hell is Manziel going to do?
This is exactly right, because after all, when you draft a player, you only get him for one season.
I don't get the logic of using a fist round pick on a QB when your current QB is in the 2nd year of a $100 million dollar extension with almost half totally guaranteed.

What are we going to do with Romo, let him watch from the bench? I have never heard of a backup QB making $100 million dollars.

Yup, I see the Jags and Cleveland fighting over him. One of those teams might trade with St. Louis to get in front of the other team. Both of them desperately need a QB. Houston and St. Louis are going to pass on him, Oakland has their guy for now, Tampa hasn't showed any interest, the Vikings acted like they weren't interested but who knows. Anyway, no way he drops past the 4th pick IMO.

It is really fun to imagine what would happen in Houston if the Texans passed on Manziel and he ended up a superstar in Dallas. Their 19 fans would riot.

I will remind you who our GM is.

What you suggest is sane and rational.

So you're all in trying to win with Romo by using your first round pick on his replacement? In a year when you couldn't do much of anything in free agency to improve your mediocre roster?

I mentioned the sanity of the GM, not what I would do.

One of Jerry's most defining characteristics is his loyalty to his players. I just can not envision him using his top resource this offseason to push Romo out the door.

Again, you are applying sanity to this. Most owners who publicly marry their QB forever and ever amen would shy away.

Are you willing to bet on Jones being sane and just passing on the obvious entertainment?

Would the Cowboys be interested in spending their 2014 first-round pick on a quarterback after recently giving Tony Romo a six-year, $108 million contract extension?Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones was asked that Wednesday during a conference call with season-ticket holders.
“Although we’ve just signed Romo, there’s a time when you start at quarterback, preparing for the future,” Jones explained.
