I guess Garrett doesn't mind being publicly castrated.

The GM basically says he can't get rid of you because you botched so many games on our dime it would not be fair to the fans to let him go to another team now after all this training

Wow

Keep them coming!

Glad fans never say something stupid

He is the owner of the Dallas Cowboys for crying out loud, and I am pro Jerry, I love the man, but this is ridiculous.
What would you think if an owner of a 2 billion dollar coorporatoon hired a CEO so he could learn on the fly for 4 years just in case he'd be a good CEO after year 5. Comedy, it's what it is.

I seen him talking about how keeping Jason Garrett is so important because he believes completely that the continuity of the coaching staff is so important to the development of the players they're bringing in via the draft and stuff to fit the system and coach them into the system.

It seems to me he was making it clear that he's getting set into this for the long haul with Garrett and will give him a good, long, period of time to get it done.

If we are stupid about the team it has no bearing on the team. If he is, that's an issue and it could be a significant issue.
There is a significant difference between a fan's stupidity and the "GM's" stupidity. Your deflection of that by commenting on the fans propensity for stupidity makes no sense in the context of the thread. It also is a bad argument.

I'm not a Garrett hater, nor do I think he is the biggest issue with this team. That distinction goes to the "GM".

And yet he changes the coaching staff every single year except for the Head Coiach.

Jones has been saying stupid things since he bought the team. I quit listening to him long ago and realize no matter what he says I'll still put on my underwear the same way and eat cereal for dinner.

Many fans seem to revel in his stupidity and take some strange glee in telling the rest of us that

1. Jones is the owner
2. He said something stupid

There are also times Jones was misquoted or taken out of context but the same fans just cheer up and tell us all JONES_was stupid even though THEY didn't read the entire story.

But its OK if they're stupid, they don't own the cowboys.

Tom Landry's first 6 years as head coach of the Cowboys. Sure glad we didn't give up on him like most of yall have given up on Garrett:

Absolutely. No reason not to.
Rod Marinelli will be the scapegoat next year if the team fails just like Rob Ryan was 2 years ago. One year ago Monte Kiffin was supposed to be the answer. Who do you think ousted Jason as OC? It sure wasn't Jason's idea because he even said he had no intention of giving it up. Now you can say Garrett's an awful OC but that's besides the point. So Callahan was forced on him and by the end of the year nobody was sure who was calling what. It's an endless cycle. Coaches come and go but Garrett stays.

If Garrett was playing with the same sort of rules and had a team starting from scratch then I would agree with that. It's not the same world anymore.

Part of coaching is coaching within the rules. Absolutely no difference. All coaches operate under the same set of rules.

I rarely see many compare Jason to Jimmy who actually was able to turn the team around in a few years.

It seems Jimmy was in charge & not Jerry & maybe there's the rub.

Get a great coach. Let him be in charge & fail or succeed on those merits.

I see nothing great about Jason as a coach.

I'm talking about the way the NFL was set up in 1960. The Cowboys didn't even have a draft class that first year. Thay got the scraps off of all the other teams. Garrett had a much better team and the rules of the NFL are set up so teams can compete in a hurry anymore. That wasn't the case back then. Look at all the other expansion teams of that era. It took years for them to compete. Then look at Carolina and Jacksonville who competed in their second years. It doesn't take as long if you have the right people in charge.
