Speaking of that very depressing Texas Monthly article... Has anyone here read that Jim Dent book King of the Cowboys from when Jerry took over?

One of the Amazon reviewers says it was so unflattering that Jerry bought all the copies he could find and sued the publisher. Sounds like Jerry.

Yes, I bought it when it came out in 1995.

It's a rough treatment of Jones. Points out issues with his infidelity, the ethical question of his Arkoma/Arkla deals, and how driven he is. If you are a Jones hater, it reinforces your viewpoint big time. If you are a Jones defender, it cinge your hair.

The funny thing in that book is that Dale Hansen is quoted quite a bit in the book, and he DEFENDS Jones on a number of issues. Hansen used to be one of Jones' drinking buddies, until the Sham-Jones fallout.

after last night, I figured this one deserves a bump. We have built a truly dominating OL. The only guy Parcells can take credit for is the worst player on the OL.. how did the worst gm in football build such a dominating OL?

You actually want to praise him because after 20 years he's finally building a quality offensive line?

While still overseeing manure on the defensive line?

Really? This impressed you? What GM couldn't do that over two decades? The difference is the other horrific GMs get fired long before they would ever get a chance.

Swing and a miss. Jerry's the single worst GM I've ever seen in any sport.

Stop typing and get out your white out. Change the title on your paper to Donald Sterling and forget you ever mentioned Jerry's name. Otherwise you deserve the F.

Jerry knows more about football then you do, which really isn’t saying much.

The worst GM in football would eventually field the worst teams, but that has never happened. Even when Dallas was going 5-11, they were not the worst team in their division, let alone the entire NFL.

His track record points to mediocrity. Trying to argue more is a fail on your part.

Ah, the my dad can beat your dad response.

Way to have me reeling over here pointing out that if you give Jerry 20 years, he damn sure can build an OL.

Unfortunately for you, I know better about Jerry's real track record. You don't get to inherit Bill Parcells' work. You hired him to do your job for you, because you are a complete clusterbleep at it. He rebuilt the roster. He's the one responsible for any success at all the last 10 years. Jerry's true GM record is much worse than face value. You just have to have a brain to know it.

at some point, the worst gm in football would produce the worst team in football. That has not actually happened.

your keep giving the same tired excuse. the roster we have today was not built by Parcells. the roster Campo had was not built by Johnson. time to find a new record to play, and a new horse to beat. Maybe even a new board to troll.

That's true. At some point.

If life after Tony Romo doesn't provide that, then I would believe Jerry is no longer the worst. Just one of the worst.

From a lack of an eye for talent, to the emasculation of his own coaching staff, to his desire to be the voice and face of the team, there simply isn't another GM in any sport that I wouldn't take over this lunatic. I'd even take his fat son over him.

Somebody does actually have to be the worst GM. For my money, that's Jerry.

BTW, I said this in 1995 when it was way less popular.

I'm certainly no fan of Jones, but your worst ever clown show discussion gives him cover.

people will stop paying attention to Jones and his goofy hair and will pay attention to your ridiculous shoes.

I think you'd have a better paper if you wrote about the general manager (or titled equivalent) for the Cleveland Cavaliers, to be honest, but yeah, go ahead and write an emotional manifesto for your research paper.

About business no. But life is more than business right? I think he's made plenty of dumb decisions.

has big flaws no doubtbut who amongst us doesn't. I think Jones is funny as hell and when his gone the NFL will miss.
His like the crazy uncle at familt reunions. Jerry has made some terrible trades and drafts I agree.
