Tony D didn't start till 8th 9th game his rookie year....maybe we need to handle Zeke the same way.

He really didn't get any work in training camp, that would help him adjust to the speed of the NFL...he looked just a tab bit overwhelmed...

Lots of carries here in which the hole was clogged up and he forced his way inside anyways, either for no gain or a short gain.

Great RBs can often react to the defense's pursuit and burn them by going away from where the run was designed to go.

Did Zeke show ANY of that ability yesterday, against a mediocre LB corps?

Silly me, I thought we drafted a game-breaker with the 4th overall pick. Not an average RB who only gets the yards that are handed to him by the OL.

It's just 1 game, but he was awful running the football yesterday.

The worst of the bunch comes at the 1:08 mark of the clip (2nd and 10). That's a Julius Jones run.

The one where he was being patient behind his blockers and Witten whiffed?

The Giants had edge contain and good push in the middle all night. Zeke was a bit safe in his running but it's not like he missed all of these huge holes you seem to think they were there. He could never bounce left against Vernon, and if there's no middle, there's nowhere to go.

What you won't give him any credit for is plays like 1:26 where the Giants get penetration, the OL gets no push, and he has to bowl his own OL over for positive yards. That's a far better run than any of his runs were bad.

Learn football, kid.

He had several chances to either run outside or make a cut inside. Instead, he'd put his head down and go straight into the traffic for no gain.

Shades of Julius Jones.

Where do you get the kid stiff from? Honest question is that the female way of trying to be disrespectful or something? I've been watching and going to games since my dad took me to my first game in the early 80's. Sometimes I wish I were younger, but that's life. Watch the game again mam. Study it , then get back with us. You can't create something out of nothing. Sure you might bust one every once in a while, but for the most part there was zero chance of succeeding with the lack of creativity and the beyond conservative play calling and lack of trust the staff had in the rookie QB to get the ball downfield. Tell your husband you need to borrow the tv for a while so you can watch again and see what everyone else saw.

LOL no... I mean the one where he Julius Jones'd his way right into traffic without even thinking of opening his eyes and seeing what's in front of/around him.

You act like he was being met in the backfield all day.

He wasn't.

Alfred Morris ran behind the same OL and against the same D, only Morris didn't have blinders on.

You could defend Julius Jones the same way you're defending Zeke. God help him if his vision/instincts are that awful every Sunday.

Aww, I struck a nerve.

Don't question my football knowledge ("I wish Reality would make people pass a football IQ test") and I won't question your age.

Pretty funny seeing a disgraced former Romo basher question anyone else's football knowledge anyways. I'm so sorry #9 decided to put up elite numbers for a decade to quiet you down.

Like somebody posted earlier, it took Dorsett and Smith 4 games before they cracked a 100 yards against another team. Elliott will adjust his game and be fine...not worried.

Again, I'll put up a pair of tickets if you can prove you have more Romo gear than myself. Including a TG day autographed #9 jersey I got myself in Oxnard. Disgraced Romo basher???? HahAhA. You crack me up. I'm just a bit more in tune with reality than you are. And you put your own football IQ on display if you think Zekes performance was his own fault entirely. Just a typical koolaid drinker who will never place fault where it's supposed to be.

He will be fine. The Giants went out and upgraded their defensive line so they could do what they did yesterday.

Stuff the run.

Well if you look at 2007 Rookie of the Year Adrian Peterson's rookie game log, he had games of 66, 63, 45, 3, 27 and 36.

Yes, I left out the 224 yard and 296 yard games. :)

Tony Dorsett's first 4 games
4-11, 9 yard long
7-62, 34 long
10-72, 14 long
14-141, 77 long

Emmitt's first 5 games
2-2, 1 yard long
6-11, 15 long
12-28, 6 long
23-121, 16 long

Fortunately, message boards and social media wasn't around then, otherwise the keyboard "geniuses" that we have now days, would have been bashing them to

So in this thread it's 'Zeke can't be expected to beat 8 or 9 in the box', and in another thread it's Garrett telling us that he was comfortable with Dez's output because we had to take what the defense gave us.

The Giants have one heck of a defensive scheme, rookie QB or not.

For as much attention as Terrance's blunder got yesterday (for good reason), Zeke's awful rushing debut was a much bigger deal.

Showed no vision or instincts whatsoever.
I agree with this. I kept asking myself why is he running into a pile of linemen? Wheres the vision to cut it outside, wheres the patience to let a hole open? Reminded me of so many other backs we have had over the years not named smith.

Were you expecting a 2.6 YPC average on 20 carries? Don't lie.

No I am more realistic, I did maybe think he would have better numbers, but I really didn't expect him to run through the Giants defense. I think they were worried more about him beating them than Dak, but what do I know with all these out of work coaches and General Managers that post on here and know everything

Hard to judge him when the online sucked so bad. I think they had more penalty yards than rushing yards. NY dline dominated them.
