Former Pats Coach Tom Shaw: Dak compares favorable to Brady

Prescott said this week that he plans on training with Shaw for his entire career. That should be viewed as a positive by the Cowboys considering Shaw's training program is similar to the one implemented by Dallas strength and conditioning coach Mike Woicik.
"I think he's going to be successful because of the way he devotes his whole life to being great," Shaw said. "If Dak starts playing golf and Dak starts skiing and starts doing stuff that is keeping him away from being great, Dak will fall off. He knows that."

While in New England, Shaw said head coach Bill Belichick would ask the following about players:

Are they hard workers? Are they intelligent? Do they show up on time? Are they coachable?

"Dak has everything on that checklist," Shaw said.

Nice article. I believe Dak will remain focused this offseason and work on his weaknesses. His arrow is pointing way up.

I'd have to say that comparing Dak to Brady at this stage of his career is a fairly bold leap of faith but I do love hearing it anyway! :)

In my opinion, for that statement to come to fruition, Dak will be obliged to improve his long ball accuracy. Nevertheless, it's do-able.

Brady is the greatest of all time. Dak is no where close to that, or close to his level.

Can he get there? Sure... Just can't compare him to the great Brady. No one is as good as him or even close to it, yet.

Yeah, no argument here -- I think Tom Shaw might possibly have been drawing his comparison in terms of comparing them during the first year of their respective careers. Knowing how Brady developed into what he is now would be a lot to assume, regardless, however. Still, it's possible. I'd surely hesitate to be one to say it's impossible or even unlikely.

My closest friend Risen is somewhere right now smirking at this article.

Nothiing wrong comparing Dak's rookie year to Brady's 2nd year (when he played a full season).

Brady's 1st 7 years regular season stats are not the greatest off all time in that view. (not counting post season)

I meant it would be a serious stretch to compare him to Brady the way his is now -- although I'd have to doubt that's really what Tom Shaw had in mind. It's been said already by several knowledgeable observers that Dak compares well to Brady as he was early-on, however. That's pretty fair to say, imho. I do believe they compare favorably to one another as Brady was back then.

Doubt they are comparing a 23 year old Dak to a 39 year old Brady.

He already did tremendously as the season progressed.
