Post 2018 is the earliest they can extend either Dak or Zeke. Per the CBA, renegotiations can not begin until after the player's third season.
Like you said, Dak will only be an RFA, so might be able to get a team friendly deal (compared to open market UFA) by "buying out" his final year (~800k) with an extension after his third season. He gets the safety of a bigger contract and the team gets a friendlier deal. Win-Win scenario.
dak will get his $. he has no incentive to leave given the young core and strong OL. the only concern is dez's age.
i hope that he signs a team friendly deal post 2018 that gives him $20M/year but will not handicap the team. jerry is a proven deal closer, and he will not do stupid negotiating stuff like the Commanders and the jets.
