I wished I saw the reason for such praise and enthusiasm.
Maybe I don't pay close enough attention but he is a guy that I always forget about until I am reviewing the final cuts and wonder how he made the team.

Not debating if he is a beast or not. Only his wife knows that. Just not sure where this praise came from.

o_O The guy is a good blocker but I really doubt he is going to "explode" offensively at this point in his career. He's a role player who does his role well and just needs to avoid injuries so he can get on the field.

Hanna is a poor route runner because he loses so much speed out of his breaks. That is not going to change in year 7 or wherever he is. He also lacks ball skills and hands.

As a blocker he excels. He is the best blocking TE we have had since MartyB and he is better than MartyB at blocking in space on the move.

His hands catching is so much better than in college, that was his knock 4.5 speed but no hands. He is a capable receiver on a team with lots of better receivers.

Watching him try to high point balls downfield is kinda sad.

The problem is Linehan has too many offensive toys and is trying to figure out what to do with them.

The role of the second tight end here, especially with us being a running team, is primarily going to be blocking, so I don't have any problems with Hanna in this role. He's enough of a threat as a receiver that defenses can't just ignore him, but his blocking is the most important part. We saw last year after Swaim went down how a poor blocking TE can hurt the game, which is why we used the second TE less and less when Escobar was our only option.

Much like going from Free to Collins was a huge upgrade, the same can be said going from Escobar to Hanna. Like night and day
