If you were Rod, what would you do to get Taco going?

If Taco puts up zeros again tomorrow, I will start to get concerned. He is going to be a work in progress but it is time to show something.......

1st he has to get snaps to get over the zeros. Can't do anything if you aren't on the field much.

I said a package. Taco-Maliek-Crawford-Mayowa plus 1st Rounder for Donald. That's 15 Sacks and two 1st rounders.

Then sign Ware and promote Neal from PS.

Jerry Spent over a decade of trying the "Go For It" approach (Joey Galloway, etc..).

You'll noticed the Patriots generally don't operate in this method. They would likely have given a 1st for Donald last year when he had basically 3 years remaining at a reasonable cost, but not multiple picks and/or young players when he has this season remaining on his rookie deal and next sesson at the fairly expensive 5th year rate for a top 10 pick.

Draft picks are salary cap management tools. You would be adding a huge salary player and giving up two 1st round players, another that would be a 1st in a re-draft (Collins).

Collins is the best DL on the team. You're replacing the best DL and losing 2 DEs which is already the weaker spot.

They wouldn't take Crawford and his salary if you gave him away.

Donald ended his holdout so it's probably a moot point.

Maybe no one expected Watt's exact first game results but there were quite a few who advocated for Watt instead of Taco because his upside was higher and his athletism/game was better fit for RDE in our D.

Yes I realize Watt seemed to have better upside.. did anyone even read my OP? I wanted Kevin King or Watt myself..

In case you missed it:
'I wanted Kevin King or Watt myself. I just didn't think Dallas would be interested in another player built like David Irving. But, oh well.. what do I know

Either way.. Shoulda, Coulda, woulda Dosent apply here.. and hindsight is 20/20. NOBODY.. thought Watt would be exploding like he has. Taco still has time to prove himself. Much like the 'Ware v Merriman' debate... Merriman was much better than Ware his first year, but look who's HOF bound.'

But of course, everything was edited except the one statement I made about Watt. My point was not ab trashing Watt, it was stating there's plenty of time for Taco to prove himself. And who knows, he could end up being the better pick in the end

I agree that the likelihood of a Donald trade is minute to nonexistent. Stephen operates much more conservatively than Jerry ever did.

But that's because Stephen did not build his fortune like Jerry did, high risk but higher reward. And Stephen is too far removed from Jimmy's era when he shook the NFL with his boldness and out of the box strategies literally building a dynasty overnight.

No one is more active in churning his team than Belichick which makes sense as he's a true disciple of Jimmy. But his situation is a little different, Pats are the most dominat team in this era of NFL fresh off another championship.

Cowboys are 20+ years from even an appearance in the conference finals, the desperation of both teams are completely different. Cowboys NEED a dominant player like Donald, NE does not.

3 late first rounders of above average future potential for the GOAT Donald may SOUND steep but not for this extremely young Cowboys team. Those 3 players combined do not scare ANY team, nevermind a focus in gameplan.

Donald's impact would be Haley-like on a very young unit that still has Irving, Lawrence, Moore, Paea, Tapper, Price, Lee, Jaylon, Scandrick, Jones, Brown, Awuzie, etc. The D would instantly be raised to performance level very close to the O.

However, the point will become moot once Donald is paid. But not until then.

Nonsense.

Fisher said "One guy in the building preferred Watt".

Yeah, i'm sure i lied.. SOMEONE on 105.3FM said the scouts wanted Watt over Taco, it was either Sean Shariff or someone else. Why would I make this up?

Go back in time & draft TJ Watt? Are cattle prods an option? Looks like we have a Soft Taco on our hands. Not much you can do with that, except pray that he grows a pair soon, & turns into a Hard Taco.

Yeah, but still no source. I'm just looking for where the story came from so I can decide how credible it actually is.

Looks like there is a source now huh (see thread today on McClay wanting Watt)? Guess I was right. Like I said, Scouts wanted Watt, but coaches over-ruled and drafted Soft Taco.

I love Rod, but in my mind Tapper should be in the rotation more than Taco. It could be that they want to limit Tapper's snaps from a physical standpoint. I think Taco should come in toward 4th quarter when Oline starts to wear down. Get those fresh, young legs going and let him use his quicks. We are going to have a DYNAMITE rotation when Moore and Irving gets back!

Fire myself and ask Jerry to hire a competent DC

If we'd drafted TJ Watt, this thread wouldn't be necessary. I was screaming at my TV when we passed on Watt, and I'll be screaming at my TV every time Taco's on the field. I hope that I'm wrong, but I know I'm not.
Good thing watt took his brothers gene of always being hurt lol neither one was worth the pick. Taco can’t tack(ole) and watt can’t stay on the field.

I didn't see it. Who's the source turn out to actually be?

Bench him. Maybe that will motivate him. Tell him if he doesn't show improvement he will be cut. That's what I would do. Cheer leading only gets you so far. At some point you have to show some tough love.
