Are you still a Garrett supporter?

In the past, I've looked upon JG as someone that would be difficult to replace due to his knack for "getting along" with Jerry. In the present, I've set that aside as something that just isn't a primary function of good coaching, although it's admittedly very useful in Dallas with Jerry around.

I see him now as average at best and one who could be bested by a more demanding coach in terms of discipline and maximizing the productivity of his charges. Being innovative, creative and willing to make necessary game time adjustments just aren't among his strengths. If a prospective coach with those qualities appeared as a replacement, I'd likely be glad to get on the bandwagon to pursue him.
Agreed. The last game was a great example. I mean what HC wouldn't give the order to double team Clayborn?? This was an average DE that was killing the QB...But very little effort was put forward to help Green. Its just a small example but even my wife, who is not a huge football fan, pointed that flaw out to me. It was piss poor, illogical coaching.

These types of conversations do nothing for me.

If you want him gone then I want to hear who you replace him with. I like Garrett but I was on board when Payton looked like he was becoming available a couple of years ago. This notion that he needs to be replaced at all costs is a nonstarter for me.

He develops players on both sides of the ball and his teams play hard for him. I do agree that he is conservative to a fault and lacks innovation. Thing is that there are a lot worse situations. Phillips was an innovator for example.

Right. Especially with Jerry.

It’s easy to say we want another coach. That’s always an easy solution until we start naming who’d come here we’d want.

Swing for the fences, Jerry.

Honestly...I can see Jerry making a run @ Meyers. I'm just not sure if he would make a good NFL coach though. He beats people by out recruiting them..but when he runs into a team that has as many athletes as he does....He's nothing special.

I get all the arguments on both sides and have my own feelings, but it's really hard to take posts seriously when they say "would of", or "should of" instead of would have, or should have.

C'mon people. I know many of you are better than this. It's not hard to type legibly.

I’ve never been a Garrett supporter... He always gave me a sneaky vibe when Wade was coach, and I wasn’t there some rumblings from TO, Clayton and Williams about Garrett? He offers no edge as a HC. I don’t feel like he puts his players in a position to succeed. He wasted Ware, Romo, Witten. He’s on his way to ruining Dez,Dak,Zeke,Tyron, Martin, Fredbeard,Lee.

This franchise, players and fans deserve better. Is it too much to ask for a HC that provides an edge? I remember we use to say BP was worth at least 2 wins a year because he provided an edge.

I have said for years that the guy brings nothing to the table on gameday. I think that he is sound from a philosophy and atmosphere standpoint but Xs and 0s as well as game management...terrible.

I would be all for changing to someone like a Jon Gruden.

Jon Gruden is classic example of TV analyst becoming a celeb. When he was coach he thought he could win with 4 Rob Johnson’s at QB. He ran the Bucs into the ground.

He’s entertaining but basically Mike Holmgren when it comes to coaching. Game has caught up to him and he’s no longer unique.

Garrett is as good an X’s and O’s guy knowledge wise as 80% of coaches. I said last week he is just more conservative than most fans would want.

Right now McVay and Belicheck look like top tier guys scheme wise but really there’s no one else than is consistently at the top you can cite as being superior.

Now did Garrett totally screw up as bad as any coach has yesterday by allowing one guy to have 6 sacks? Absolutely. But there’s virtually no coach out there that hasnt had the same issues.

Payton ran the Saints into the ground the last few years before this year’s turnaround so far.

Reid was run out of Philly.

McDaniels flopped as HC.

People were trying to run Tomlin out of Pitt

Gase has proven nothing special in Miami

Rivera has been up and down

Find me someone outside of New England and thus far the Rams where there’s definite upgrades

I'm curious to get a read on how many fans still have faith that Jason Garrett is the right man for the job or how many fans are ready to move on?

Just your own opinion on what you would like to see happen going forward, and not what you expect Jerry Jones to do.

I'm interested to get a read on how opinions and overall confidence stands at this point.

it doesn't matter

I could possibly be on board with Payton as well, if only he weren't committed to New Orleans. I could even see where SP might have the rare type of patience required to co-exist with Jerry. It seems most of the others with promising qualifications likely wouldn't be able to partner up with him.

It's all but an impossible task to imagine many being successful, outside of the promise offered by a long list of "yes" men who couldn't hope to qualify in too many other respects. Finding prospects to replace JG simply isn't a promising venture to undertake. It'd likely be an extremely slippery slope to walk upon -- that's for sure . . . I'm thinking that's why it hasn't even been attempted thus far.
