Look, I don't like JG anymore than most people on CZ. He's never gotten the appropriate seasoning to be a head coach in the league.

If you put his resume against Sean Payton you'll see that they are the same age but years coaching differs ( Payton 19 years various college and various pro vs JG 5) before getting their first hc job in the NFL. JG gives us no intellectual advantage in fact we're at a disadvantage with him on the sidelines.

He was and now still is over his head in this job but here's the thing, when offered the job what did you expect him to do? Say no? What would you you have done in the same situation? The bottom line is that JG is not suited to be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys but it's not his fault it's the guy that hired him fault. He puts being comfortable and being able to play with his toy over winning and until that stops we're going to get the same results.

What a dumb thread

It’s 7 years later...if he hasn’t figured out how to be a competent head coach by now it’s definitely on him.

Oh and the guy that out coached him on the other side last night had far less experience before he was hired and currently.

I just cant feel sorry for a guy who just made $312,500 watching his team get their butts kicked last night while we pay to watch it.
He may be a nice guy, a great father, a doll of a man... But this is entertainment for us fans and it feel like we are being frustrated more than entertained.

Sean McVay had more full on coaching experience than Garrett did when he took the HC job, and McVay is only 31 years old. McVay spent 8 years working under both Grudens. He was the one who revived Kirk Cousins career. To me, that was a huge, impressive measurable for McVay.

Garrett had 4 years, one of those in years in Miami under that mess with Nick Saban. Most of it in Dallas as the OC where he was hand held his first years by Tony Sparano. Once Sparano was gone the offense suffered, and I thought felt Garrett was a big part of it. And Romo was handed to him on a silver platter when Garrett got here, no Kirk Cousins projects.

Garrett never had it to begin with, and our egotistical GM either does not help matters much by not realizing it.

Pederson has way more skins on the wall than Garrett. He spent 8 years under Andy Reid in Philly and at KC. He was OC for 3 years in KC. And he had to make Alex Smith viable, who is not bad but I don't think he's the answer in KC. But they had won with him for 4 straight years before Pederson went to Philly.

It's still way more experience than Garrett.

laughing my *** off at thinking Jim Harbaugh would want to coach for Jed Clampett and Jethro Bodine.
This. We can keep replacing coaches all day with puppets but until JJ literally turns it over into the hands of a coach who is a leader, who commands respect and has the latitude to make changes on his own like bringing in his own guys...etc. it's going to be what it is today.
I'll qualify that. There may be a coach who can be successful under the JJ org chart and process, but it would take a very unusual or extraordinary coach to do it. Jimmy did it and was run off with an ego battle not worth fighting. Parcells was in process but JJ ran him off by meddling with TO. All the others were puppets and not successful. JJ can't have it both ways. If he gets it, it will be an anomaly for sure.

Garrett is the perfect puppet for Jerry...it doesn't get any better than him. He knows not to speak his opinion and won't give the media anything, which is great for Jerry because as the face of the team, he can be the one to provide the media with the quotes they want.

Garrett also is not an X's and O's coach so I'm sure Jerry is pleased that his HC doesn't confuse him with all that talk. At the end of the day, Jerry wants to feel like the smartest man in the building and Garrett allows him to be that.

It’s a pointless thing to argue and they were both very inexperienced. Jason Garrett was an NFL assistant head coach/offensive coordinator in ‘08 and Pederson was coaching in high school. Plus Garrett has 6 more years NFL head coaching experience...

Either way, arguing about which coach was less experienced is trivial, because it’s an absolute crap excuse for Garrett
