Dez needs a new role and a paycut

He is no longer a Top5 WR.......he is top25 and should give money and swagger back

He should take most of Witten's routes that would now be athletic mismatches

I would trade him while his name still has some value ...... a team like SF or CLE or JAX will pay some of their salary cap excess for a big name

THIS...... if Linehan is back it really doesn't matter either way

Witten, Dez and Beasley are just props that have to fend for themselves
Funny how no one was saying these things when Romo was the QB and fans were trying to run him out of town...

Mine too... Which is why I am advocating keeping Dez one more year. Add some talent in the draft this year and see how Dez bounces back. He claims he's been hurt and the scheme has hindered him. If we change OCs and he's healthy-- Dez may indeed rebound nicely for a year or two.
:clap::clap::clap:I'll rather keep and add another piece rather bringing in a new piece we have no idea.

If this conversation had taken place already, we would know in several ways. When it does happen, I expect Dez to not take it well. It will be like a fart inside a space suit-you will smell it.

We will see how mature Dez is.
If he's looking out for his family financially then he's being very mature, this "do it for the team" attitude is corny and very one sided.

I'm not sure Ware would have the inside scoop on these conversations. I'm sure if this conversation had actually happened it would've been picked up by several major news outlets by now.

I'm assuming that Ware is basing it off of personal experience, rather than saying that Dez told him that directly. He's been in the same spot with the same management.

The mistake with DWare was not trading him..... he had teams lining up to pay him

He didn't fit our team anymore in the 4-3 and wasn't worth the 12m salary but cutting him was a mistake

Same with Dez....... we need to trade him if we are moving on

Maybe Dez was trying to sabotage Garrett or Linehan since he hates their offensive philosophy. Maybe the offense as a hole was all in on it. Okay, I can dream.

DeMarcus Ware to Dez Bryant: 'Take the pay cut or you're gone'
The legend has some potent words for a seemingly inflexible Dez Bryant

"Hell, no. I believe in me, yeah."

Such were the poignant words from Dez Bryant when asked if he'd accept a pay cut from the Dallas Cowboys this offseason.

The All-Pro entered 2017 with a mountain of expectations heaped upon his shoulder pads, on the heels of battling health issues the previous two seasons along with lessened production. This season hasn't helped his case overall, despite some game-breaking plays here and there, as his output remains an issue as it relates to weighing it against his current salary.

**Follow @VoiceOfTheStar on Twitter for up-to-the-second news and analysis!**

Bryant signed a five-year, $70 million contract extension in 2015 and is set to earn a base of $12.5 million in 2018. Between that and his $4M signing bonus, he'll smack the Cowboys' salary cap for a cool $16.5 million this offseason, lending to the obvious call for a potential pay cut. The Cowboys' all-time leader in receiving touchdowns will have none of that talk though, making it clear while there's a selection of issues that lend to his downward trend -- none of them are accountable to his talent level.

The NFL is a business if it's nothing else though, and Bryant is not naive to the reality his financial inflexibility could put the team in a position they'd rather not be in. While it remains unlikely the Cowboys would move on from their now-legendary wide receiver in a few months, it isn't impossible.

Just ask resident Cowboys' legend and future Hall of Fame linebacker DeMarcus Ware, who once sat in the very seat Bryant does now.

Ware went through the same situation being asked to take a pay cut due to declining production.

He did, but in Ware's case he had a season with a third of his normal production going into a year with a 2014 salary of 16 Million. That is a lot different than the situation with Dez today.

Ware's situation was quite a bit different. he'd already reaped the majority of the benefits of his contract, was consistently hurt, and knew that if he refused the pay cut, Jerry's bleeding heart would do him a solid.
