Exactly. @percyhoward has done excellent work determining the situations in which Dak has struggled. I have to think the Cowboys coaching staff has reached the same conclusions. Give him time to learn how to handle those circumstances.

There are 2 kinds of organizations

Those that reward innovation, leadership and accountability and those that reward comfort, lack of accountability and nepotism

The cowboys are clearly the latter organization and I expect little of the former from our coaches or players

I'm copying this from a article @ NFL.com by Bucky Brooks.
Because it must apply to Dakota also, shouldn't it?

n the scouting world, it takes about three years to determine whether a guy can really play. Although coaches and scouts want to accelerate the process for their young players, they understand that it takes some time to acclimate to the speed of the pro game while also mastering the nuances of the scheme. When it comes to the quarterback position, it takes about 30 starts with a strong supporting cast to make a solid assessment of someone's talent and potential as a QB1.

"You can't really figure out if your quarterback can play until you surround him with enough weapons to have a chance," an AFC college scouting director told me. "In a perfect world, you want to make sure a young quarterback has a couple of pass catchers, a solid offensive line and a running back that you can depend on. When they have those pieces around them, you can quickly see if they can play at a high level or not."

A logical assessment.

Thanks for sharing.

Dak will be fine once Dez is gone.

last year people were annointing Wade Wilson with basically performing a miracle by taking 4th round QB with minimal arm talent, poor accuracy in college and almost never took snaps from center and got him to play lights out in his rookie year.

Fast forward to today and now Wilson is an idiot. Who is next, the cook at Star?

Not even close, no one I know was annointing Wade of anything. And last year Dak had both Romo and Sanchez in his ear - you know QBs with plenty of experience.
This year, no one but Wade.
Again, Wilson does not seem to be much of a QB puppet master. And for Dak to improve - as a 4th round pick who has some flaws, the right QB whisperer is very much needed ...

Thats the thing, i kinda like the offense when Dez is out. No im not a Dez hater, but i see the ball fly around more often when hes not there. Do i want Dez gone, no, i want an OC to put him to his strengths, but if that cant happen, trade him and let him go be successful else where.

I know I wasn't here last year, but I've been saying Wade is nothing but window dressing for years.
Romo made himself with some help from Testy Testeverde and Parcells.

If I was here last year, I would have been pounding the rock on firing that fraud, like I was doing with that putz Jerome Henderson.

Dak had possibly the best OL & RB that any rookie QB has ever stepped into. The WR core was never a problem when Tony was QB so we have to assume they are sound group also. At some point, we just run out of excuses and come to conclusion that not players with great rookie season pan out. Dak definitely deserves to compete for starting QB but there should be competition and I dont consider Rush competition.
ya OKay

Johnny Football™ only got 2 years. Can't believe Jerry hasn't brought him in, given how much he wanted to draft him. Veteran minimum. If he so much as looks at someone the wrong way, cut him.
If nothing else, it wouldn't be boring. :muttley:

Johnny Football was showing up to practice with a hang over and he sucked from day 1.

The more accurate comparison would be RG3..........won rookie of the year and was probowler his rookie season, just like Dak, and then struggled in his second season, just like Dak.

Lets hope Dak rebounds, RG3 never did.

Tom Landry did not say give every player three years. That would be ridiculous to waste all that time with guys who clearly can't play. He was saying players you believe in. They need to show you by year 3 why they believe in you.

I don't need 3 years with this QB. He lacks talent. You don't acquire talent over time.

Fair enough and I think it's fair to say FO and coaches "believe" enough for Dak to get three years. Rest is non-issue......

During the draft process, collegiate QB's are the most analyzed & scrutinized imperative positions for GM's and the player personnel department - especially the in last 20 years due to free agency and salary cap.
In the last 20 years, super bowl winning QB's drafted outside of the 2nd round have been only Tom Brady, Kurt Warner (free agent in 1994), Brad Johnson, and Russell Wilson.
And the Buccaneers and Seahawks were defensive talented teams in which Johnson and Wilson were game-managers, not game-changers.

If a team drafts a QB beyond the 2nd round and wishes to win a Super Bowl, they better believe that QB has at least the ceiling of a Tom Brady or a Kurt Warner.
In Brady's 2nd full year as a starter, he won his 2nd Super Bowl. In Warner's 1st year as a starter, he won a Super Bowl.
Do you all think Dak has the skill set of a 2003 Tom Brady or a 1999 Kurt Warner?

The idea that a team can outsmart the rest of the NFL by bargain-based shopping for a championship caliber QB is naive.
In other words, get your franchise caliber QB in the 1st round (the percentages of 'hitting' on the QB in the 1st round is much greater than in subsequent rounds).
History sets the context for the present.

If the BPA for Dallas is a QB in the 1st round, take the QB.
Or move up in the 1st round and get a QB.
But, Jerry will not do it.
Post of the week.
