Yep, looks like DE, DT and LB are big needs after all. Man, especially the 1T DT and LB. I'd throw in safety too, high on the list of needs. The middle of the defense sucks as a whole. We need two really good DEs to go along with Lawrence, who looks like a prime franchise tag candidate. Also, Witten should be a role player at this point, with significant effort made to find a young TE who has the athleticism to be a bigger threat downfield, with decent blocking skills like good old Witt used to have.

We need a fatty in the middle at DT. We need a safety badly, and we are starving for depth and starters at LB. Dez and Witten may not be making everyone happy, but our offense is still trucking. We need to bolster the defense and get that trophy.

1) 1-Tech - We don’t have one, now we need two.
2) LB - Sean Lee won’t last forever, we need two.
3) S - Jones is serviceable but not a game changer, this position needs a major upgrade.

Has anyone’s opinion changed on this? I still say DE, WR and LBer in that order. Here pretty quick Saftey or CB could be making it on the list. But I’m giving a slight pass for a while because their rookies.

I can't do 3. There are 4 absolutely critical needs.

QB, WR, TE and LB.

I’m staying strong with my projection of DE LB WR. And 7 months later my reasoning hasn’t changed.

I would love for the Cowboys to get a stud linebacker or a stud safety at #19, however, looking at the current prospect crop as is, I think we're going to have to go after an OT first. The LB and S positions are extremely thin as of right now. Ironically, both positions have top 5 players, but the drop off after that is huge, as in 2nd day huge. I think going after a DT is overkill. Both Irving and Maliek have the starting positions locked. Sure we could use depth, but that could be acquired in the later rounds or free agency and both of those guys are perfect examples of that. The O-line has become the 3rd most pressing need after LB and Safety and one that could be addressed with the 19th pick without over reaching for a prospect.

Jesus people don't think about how things will look next year.

DE we have a first, 2 seconds, a third and David Irving. Or

Lawrence Taco
Irving Gregory

We don't need to address DE in this draft. If people think we don't have room for an early LB due to our propensity for nickle then those people should be in favor of moving up for Derwin James.

If if if I had it my way

Derwin James Earl Thomas
Chidobe Awuzie Jourdan Lewis Byron Jones
Jaylon Smith Sean Lee
Taco Collins legit 1T Lawrence

Exchange woods for James and put Vea or hurst at 1 T and it's damn good.
