I was watching 30 for 30 The Two Bills. One on the reasons that Belichick is so great is that he is proactive. He proactively plans for every possible thing that could go wrong and makes adjustments before it actually happens. JG on the other hand is reactive. The Cowboys went 13-3 in the 2016 season and Dak had a fantastic year. Instead of being proactive and planning for how teams would adjust to game planning against Dak JG just went along with the same formula in 2016. Now JG is being reactive by trying to come up with a Dak friendly offense.

Did the same thing with a Romo friendly offense. The result was 3 straight 8-8 seasons. Clap. Clap. Clap.

Bill Bellichick tapes opponent's practices because he is constantly playing a game of chess. He will exploit any edge or weakness he can find. Garrett is completely incapable of that. It is 100% beyond his ability as a coach. He has one offense and one philosophy and if he has to deviate from that the only thing that will get us the win is late game heroics from our players. JG is ok at some things but is the worst Xs and Os coach in the NFL. Period.

The lack of organizational health at the highest levels of the Cowboys’ FO is without a doubt, both the biggest reason we haven’t had much success for 22 years, and the biggest obstacle this team must overcome each season.

The only other NFL owner who thinks it’s ok to also be the GM is Mike Brown of the Bungles. Thirty other owners believe that’s a bad model if you want to win a championship. This organization is run like a fraternity fantasy football team.

I'm a noncommittal fan as far as the whole Garrett issue is concerned for the most part. I do agree that he lacks the ability to be proactive to this point in his career however and that inadequacy is a really big deal .

True. However, it's even worse than that. Belly gets it, JG does not. JG just doesn't seem to understand the flow of the game, and also doesn't seem to have a clue as to what to do when the game is on the line, or even that the game is one the line.

Management overall is reactive. Case in point, Romo breaks back, Moore breaks leg... react. Draft a QB. They should have been drafting QB's all along and grooming which is proactive. Instead disaster causes a reaction. It's not on JG anymore than it is the entire philosophy of the management group which includes JJ, SJ and McClay

I think it has to do with Garretts Ivy League Ego, he refuses to change, thinking he has the personnel to make a defense "pick their poison" as did the early 90's Cowboys under Norv Turner.......

The above is now a 4 year old article on how Garretts Scheme is "supposed "to work, biggest thing missing is no Over the Top receiver, and Dak after 2 years is no Aikman in terms of accuracy or getting the ball out inside the scheme.

We haven't had an over the top WR since Roy Williams, and he wasn't all that good.
