As a Cowboys fan I'm ashamed that most of the fanbase would rather have a 2nd round pick (50th overall) than an elite Safety (one of the best ever) for the next 3-4 seasons.

:facepalm::banghead:

We act as if we are lights out in the second round.

This whole ET wanting to join Cowboys drama all caused by Jerry's reputation of being a "Shrewd" business man and overpaying habit.

One of the best ever? next 3-4 seasons? That's too much wishful-thinking. Truth is, few big signing like that worked in the past -- T.O maybe one exception.

People joining a circus would most likely turn into a clown.

Mike Fisher just said the thomas trade will not happen because thomas wants too much money.
Yeah, 30-year-old malcontents can demand big money.

Smart fans
You can’t trade a 2nd and pay elite money to a 29 yr old player when you have guys like Dlaw and Martin to keep
I will say this yes you actually can because the Cowboys Cap is huge the next few years. Next year they can pretty much do what they please.

In the middle of his career, Gil Brandt had him ranked #19. That's sure to improve as time goes on. http://www.nfl.com/photoessays/0ap3000000816254

Earl Thomas is similar to Ed Reed, who played at an elite level until he was 33. Woodson made the Pro Bowl as a Safety when he was 39.

He is damaged goods. Broke leg, and that monster hit to Gronk. Who know when will be next big injury.

It is embarrassing that there was even interest in trading a second round pick for Thomas at this stage of his career. Trading a second round pick would be dumb when you throw in a new contract that would certainly be overpaying and would be a big hit on the salary cap. Trading for an aging player that is clearly declining reminds me of the stupid mistakes from years past.
