1. Why did Seattle let Kris Richard go if he is going to revolutionize the Dallas D? Why did the Browns/Ravens let Belichek go? I don't think anybody has said Richard is a bad coach. Most likely the Seahawks/Carrol thought they needed a change. They seem to be rebuilding the team in a way, and probably wanted to go a different direction... Coaches do that some times. Most sources seem to think Richard is a fine coach, so who really knows? I don't think he's overrated... yet... we'll see. A lot of people other than just Cowboys fans seem to think he is damn good. Maybe he'll do better at going back to focusing more on just one defensive group?

2. Do the Cowboys really believe Rico Gathers is a football player? They obviously think he has the skill skit to become one and he showed flashes at times last preseason, enough to probably warrant one more offseason to see if he brings it all together. He was a late round pick that we put on the practice squad his first year and IR this past year... it's not like we've invested this astronomical amount of resources into the guy... we're trying to get him ready for the big show and not feed him to the wolves, but this season we should see if it all came together or not.

3. Why does Dallas insist on making players change positions - Showers, Neal, Smith, Jones, Chido (maybe), Crawford? Trying to find the best position for them so that they can either A: make the team or B: produce to the best of their abilities. Specifically with Showers he moved to S because there was no way he was going to make the team as a QB at the time. With Jones, nobody quite knew what position he was going to play when he first came out anyway, and I think at the time we needed more immediate help at safety than we did CB. I think the same thing happened with Crawford... we needed help somewhere else and tried it out.

4. Was it Dak's or Dez's fault? Not even going to attempt to jump into that argument.

5. Why does it appear that Scott Linehan can only game plan every other season? He had a great year with Murray, then Murray left.. he had a great year with Zeke then Zeke was suspended six game and his whole ordeal seemed largely like a distraction for him(Zeke) most of the season anyway.... Might have something to do with that, but I don't think we can put all the blame just on losing one player, with our line he needs to pull it together for sure despite who is playing back there... we should still be better at times.

6. With all that talent on the OL, why were they so terrible at pass protection last year? Personally I feel like it's the offensive scheme at times.. we don't seem very creative so it's easy to just line up, take away our strengths and exploit our weaknesses. I've seen offensive lines that were "worse" than ours not play as bad as ours seemed to at times and I think it's because other teams are better at masking their problems, or helping their weak points... we seem to just say "go out there and be better than the other guy"... Might be wrong on all of that, but that's just me and how I perceive it.

7. Why is Jaylon Smith even considered to be a Mike? Isn't he better using his athletic ability at the Will or Sam? I think if healthy and he can truly come back from that awful injury he would be good at any LB spot you could put him at... but so far it doesn't look like he's fully got the feel for the game back. Hopefully this offseason we will see.

8. Is it possible that Cole B is a better rapper than WR? God. No.

9. Why doesn't Coach Rod want a big fat guy at the 1Tech? He prefers to DT that get penetration and puts pressure on the offense that way, guys who can rush the QB on passing downs and not just take up space. He wants guys who can move and can do things if a play does happen to get past them instead of just clogging up space, high motor guys if you will. I can't say I agree with any of that... just feels like that's what he prefers.

10. Why has it been so hard to find a S? I honestly don't think they've tried very hard. Feels like they just don't think the safety position is all that important or that they can find what they want without spending premium resources. I don't think they "ignore" the position... but it certainly feels like it's not priority worth spending high value assets on at times... to them.

Bonus - Is winning really the most important thing to Jerry? Yes. Every owner in the league is a business man who wants to make as much money as they can... don't be fooled by Jerry just so happening to be the most vocal one. It's just that Jerry the GM happens to not have a boss... so he has nobody who holds him accountable for the things he's done poorly to try and win, but he does have somebody who praises all the successes. I don't believe for a second that he doesn't care about winning, the man is too passionate, too driven for that to be the case IMHO.

2. Do the Cowboys really believe Rico Gathers is a football player? YES.

3. Why does Dallas insist on making players change positions - Showers, Neal, Smith, Jones, Chido (maybe), Crawford? ALL TEAMS DO.

4. Was it Dak's or Dez's fault? CLEARLY DEZ. TALENT DROP + PAID TO BE ELITE.

7. Why is Jaylon Smith even considered to be a Mike? HE ISN'T. OUTSIDE THIS YEAR.

8. Is it possible that Cole B is a better rapper than WR? WHO CARES?

9. Why doesn't Coach Rod want a big fat guy at the 1Tech? COWBOYS JUST DON'T WANT THAT BIG FAT GUY.

10. Why has it been so hard to find a S? THEY HAVE BEEN LOOKING?

Bonus - Is winning really the most important thing to Jerry? YES.

3. Why does Dallas insist on making players change positions - Showers, Neal, Smith, Jones, Chido (maybe), Crawford?

Some of those guys, it was either get cut or try something else. It almost never works. As far as Jones and Chido, not a fan of it. I think they probably just wanted to let jones loose a little more than corner allows, and create turn overs like fast safeties can do. Never worked out.

4. Was it Dak's or Dez's fault?

I don’t know why it has to be one or the other with everyone around here. Dez physical skills are in decline, but dak takes less risky throws by design. Dez wants the ball thrown up, dak wants a route runner who creates separation.

5. Why does it appear that Scott Linehan can only game plan every other season?

Now this I truly wonder, because the real debate is how much of his game plan has been dictated by Jason garret. A lot of people tell me that Jason has designed the offense and Scott is working within those parameters.

6. With all that talent on the OL, why were they so terrible at pass protection last year?

Because our best lineman who weren’t injured were interior lineman. Collins is mediocre, and Smith was hurt or absent.

7. Why is Jaylon Smith even considered to be a Mike? Isn't he better using his athletic ability at the Will or Sam?

Good question, and I’m curious how often well even run sets to get all three of our linebackers on the field. Someone’s snaps will be limited, which maybe a good thing for all of them.

9. Why doesn't Coach Rod want a big fat guy at the 1Tech?

I have this theory about wanting some of the linebackers further from the line and moving around in the backfield or moving around on the edge. So it effects who he has in the middle of the dline, but I’m probably wrong.

10. Why has it been so hard to find a S?

One of their big ideas with jones just didn’t work. But I’m a firm believer that you can find safeties all in the draft, but they haven’t even tried much of that other than woods. Juries still out.

Is winning really the most important thing to Jerry?

Jerry wants to win badly, in my opinion. Is it more important than him than money? I think Jerry is rich enough that he probably doesn’t think about money often, it takes care of itself. He’s just made bad choices with coaches.

1. Why did Seattle let Kris Richard go if he is going to revolutionize the Dallas D? Our defense has been inconsistent or a liability for so many years, and any change, especially from OMG Def coach from Seattle, is getting overly hyped. It's the off season and fan expectations tend to run amok.

2. Do the Cowboys really believe Rico Gathers is a football player? Right now it's speculation based on potential and don't think they know what he is. It is a make or break year for Rico, if he doesn't get it or can't stay on the field due to injuries, he will be gone.

3. Why does Dallas insist on making players change positions. Every team does it, whether it's based on injuries, need, or skillset with varying degrees of success from team to team and player to player.

4. Was it Dak's or Dez's fault? Both + others. Dak due to some accuracy issues, Dez in decline of skills, lack of ability or willingness to adapt, OLine for lack of consistency, Coaches for lack of creativity or ability to adapt to his use or forcing it. The FO/Jerry for enabling Dez to begin with.

5. Why does it appear that Scott Linehan can only game plan every other season? Injuries and his inability or reluctance to adjust plays or gameplans, not just during games but throughout a season.

6. With all that talent on the OL, why were they so terrible at pass protection last year? Lack of player consistency and cohesion. We had a new LG, Collins move to RT, Tyron's injury and not having an adequate back up LT prepared. OL probably more than any other position group have to be able to function and communicate as a unit. With two new OL and another learning a new position that cohesiveness was compromised. Coaching also plays a part in having his unit prepared.

10. Why has it been so hard to find a S? They haven't prioritized it and really haven't tried to find a real solution to our safety play. The real question should be, why haven't they prioritized it?

I'll comment on #9.... Many teams are moving toward the twitchy D1 its not just the Marinelli scheme.
Creates more pressure but if play breaks down or the right offensive call is made it can yield big chucks
