The most criminal thing about stashing the kid for a whole year with no practice time to learn was it was to put Kellen moore back on the team.

Its clear that Rico thinks he’s awesome and the coaching staff thinks he has a looong way to go

I’d give him another training camp and see how he develops. He has a big personality and if he is saying dumb stuff before ever doing anything in an actual game— what is he going to do if he ever has any success?

We don’t need a diva— and the more Rico talks and acts— the more diva-esque he seems to me. Hope I am wrong

This isn't against the rules people need to chill out lol. He didn't get put on ir with a fake injury, they just decided not to activate him once he was healthy and they don't have too.

I agree with what everyone is saying about Rico.

I always knew the season ending concussion was BS.

My problem with the whole thing is the Cowboys offense was in desperate need of a dynamic player to put on the field last year and we stuck with James Hannah and Geoff Swaim because they offer a little more as blockers.

This is a big play league. Your Geof Swaims are non-factor players. Free Rico.

they were saying he looked really slow among the tightend group and were contemplating a move to tackle lol
oh how quickly things change in media land

People think Witten is slow, which he was not. He had very quick feet and deceptive top end where we hardly utilized him mid/deep like we used to. But when I saw Gathers last year he really did look like a big slow body.

Exactly. He would have added a wrinkle to the offense that we didn't have, and could have exploited some matchups. But we needed that spot for Kellen Moore lol.

I think a lot of fans here are viewing IR like it's a temporary thing for a player to heal and return the moment they are better. The NFL's Injured Reserve does not work like that. If it did, teams would be stashing players on IR for depth and pulling them back the moment they need them. That's why they used to not allow any players to return from IR.

Many teams in 70's used IR just for that reason. Raiders were notorious for it.
They would have like 20 players on IR. Many for very minor things, like a sore elbow. Then if needed just activated them, put someone on in their place.
This was why the rules were changed.

Some differences of PUP vs. IR:

To be on PUP, you have to be placed on it when TC starts. If you have 1 practice, you can no longer be on PUP nor be placed on PUP.

To be placed on IR there are a few factors when to be placed on IR. You can be placed on IR right before the season starts. Even it is an injury less than 6 weeks to recover. And you do not need to be designated to return, like it used to be. The team can use it for any player. Normally a main player if a 4 week injury, just takes up the roster spot. But for a lesser player they could place him on IR.

Also IR can be used during the season. I player gets a 5 week injury, but they do not want to use a roster spot, they can put him on IR then bring him back later.

Where the 6 week injury comes in for IR is in TC. If a player is injured, they just can't put him on IR and bring in another camp body. If so, then teams would have 120 players to pick. and choose for practices. They would need to release that player with an injury settlement to bring in another player.
However if shown that it is a 6 week or longer injury, such as a torn ACL. Then they can go ahead and put them on IR. No they still can release them as in some case they do with an injury settlement as opposed to keeping them on IR all season. A Botton tier guy or just a camp body, you would release. A player like Rico they kept.

Maybe these rules changed in the last year, or I may be slightly off, but that is pretty much how I understand it.
