He already proved he plays better without a star wideout and spreads the ball around successfully when concentrated on various targets.

Imo what we have now at the position without dez could be 2x better than what we had when dez was injured and Dak balled out.

Dez injured:

-twill (no hands, no speed)
-beasley (limited speed, small, possession only)
-butler (limited speed, one trick pony, disappears)

^^^^^Still Dak made things happen with them

Dez cut:

-twill (same)
-beasly (same)
-austin (good speed, hands, good route runner)
-Gallup (best route runner, best hands, potential)
-thompson (a faster butler, better skills)

^^^^^Dak will do 2x better with the add-on's

I believe the better route runners along with better hands wideouts will really benefit Dak greatly, and limit the interceptions. Dak will also have decent timing WR's and should be able to put the ball where he wants it to be.

Dak will prove the haters wrong, book it.

Dak-friendly 2018

the offense has been drastically changed. Keep in mind, what we see vs what Garrett sees and does are two different things. He ll have to revamp how the offense works, and find who rises and shines and who bails out. Simple as that. There is no star to groom, right now no known security blanket. Dak will be starting with a new offense. He has to find out who is compatable with his timing and throws. There is so much we need to find out and the camps and pre season wont tell us everything.

You are making it seem so difficult, I believe dak and the coaching staff have a clear idea of their new blueprint.

They will play towards Daks strengths just like Mississippi state did.

yes, i really should have said that as well. Just keep dak to his strengths and he showed last year he can get the ball around. I do believe this.

Also only in Dallas post Dez are we advocating for not having a player that draws double teams because then our QB cannot look anywhere else.

He needs a player not drawing double teams to be able to spread the ball around.

A) That's an incredibly stupid argument.

B) If it's true...Dak isn't the QB we need or deserve.

C) Hate our fans sometimes.

Threads not being started in Philly, New England, Seattle, New Orleans, etc....."Why our starting QB who we have staked the franchise on is good"

That's a really short list. I expected you to travel to the other 31 forums and come back to give us the real 411 instead of half-assing it and stating the obvious.

What makes you so sure?
I have seen him play in the pros. A total bust who McVay a young smart offensive minded coach couldn't get anything out of. He is not the vertical threat he was hyped to be coming out of West Virginia. Now he's coming to a team with coaches who aren't as imaginative in how they will attempt to move the football. If you're honest and look at it as is you should be terrified at this recievers corp being trotted out especially with Austin being reduced to a scatback. Terrified ...

To be fair they very well may have had said threads in Philly and LA a year ago about Wentz and Goff. They weren't exactly all world their first season.

Not comparing said players just stating anything is possible (Dak does have a lot to work on IMO but I am an optimist for a least this season).

Edit: Erod below sums up my thoughts pretty well.

Better college quarterbacks than Dak Prescott didn't make it in the NFL. That's ridiculous.

I'm waiting to see NFL throws on NFL routes. The Cowboys seem determined to abandon much of that and try to play college street ball. Defenses like the Eagles will toy with that.

He's going to have to become an NFL quarterback. That's Dallas' only shot with him. Otherwise, next man up.

I love how the false premise has grown that Dak "made things happen" when he played without Dez. In reality they went up against three rotten defenses while being backed by 190 yards rushing per game. NFL teams win those games 85% of the time regardless who they trot out at the QB position.

We didn't bring Austin in to help the passing game, we brought him in to help the running game.
Without using any imagination, will be to run the ball.

I watched the senior bowl to see Wentz because we still had a shot at him at the time. I was more impressed with the kid Prescott than Wentz. Which at the time was a letdown, but I remember thinking Dak has the "IT" factor.
Romo was a backup for over 3 years and yet we are ready to throw Prescott under the bus after 2 really good years. Sometimes I just don't get Cowboy fans.

Didn’t really happen. It was widely considered that Wentz more than passed the eyeball test his rookie year. It was easy to see what was to come.

All these organizations have a coaching staff that can design a decent offense. Bellichick 11 and 5 with Matt Cassell as a starter. We couldn't win a single game with him.
