People are talking about Byron Jones, Irving, Dlaw and others expiring after this season and rightfully so, but how come nobody is talking about Geoff swaim? The best run blocking TE on the team and probably our starter this year and long term if we keep him.

So what is a fair value for him? Around $7m a year? Or more? Don't want to see him leave because of price like Hitchens.

He will likely walk when his contract is up. No way we spend 7m a year on him.

If you want to compare him to Hitchens I will take the 4th or 5th round comp pick and that comes with his departure.

Let’s see if he can actually contribute, much less be a good starter before these types of discussions begin. 7 mil a year based on what very little is known about him? Just no.

IF he becomes the main man at the position this season and IF he actually has a good season then and only then is his value worth a discussion. Don't see him ever being worth more than the 3 or 4 mil a season nevertheless.

Swaim contract likely will be based on how he produces. Right now he is in a battle for the job and while he is currently penciled in as the starter he will have to continue to battle to earn the spot. New contract is the last thing he needs to worry about.
