Expect much from Taco Charlton in 2018, but know he's already beat you to the punch.

"You’re a first-round pick for the Dallas Cowboys, so expectations are going to be high," said the second-year pass rusher following the conclusion of OTAs, via Drew Davison of Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "But it was more so I just had expectations for myself, and it started off slower than what I wanted. At the end, I started seeing the strides and seeing all the practice hours and how hard I was working starting to pay off.

"Going into Year 2, I’m stronger. I can hold my weight more. I’m faster. I’m more knowledgeable about the game, studying more moves and working a lot more moves.

Talk is cheap. Get out there and make DLaw look average son.

I mean wasn't the knock on him that he was a bit raw and would need a year or so to grasp how to perform in the NFL? And that if he conquered the mental/determination part of the NFL he could be a legit DE?

Hopefully his statements are backed up with action starting in September. I've gone from disliking the pick to really hoping he contributes consistently asap.

They always get stronger
He got some valuable experience last year and I expect a solid year
I don’t expect Dlaw good but if he can get 8-10 sacks that’s a very good year for him

He had a solid year for a rookie. Especially a guy that's rotating.

What held him back was strength.

If he gets that squared away then he can be a very good player for us I think.

I wasn’t a fan of the pick either
Didn’t think he was best player availible
But he came on late in the year and may turn out to be a good player
Wouldn’t be the first time I was wrong for sure

DE in the NFL is a slow spot for guys to develope
In college they could use speed or muscle
At this level it’s about learning more pass rush moves
I think he’s gonna surprise a few who labeled him a bust last year

I was amazed at the hate this guy got on here. I remember a few posters who I wont name calling him a bust after the 3rd game of the year. In college his big thing to me was getting better every year. If he follows that trend he is in for a very decent year. With Gregory back hopefully, and DLaw I like our DE rotations

I think a lot of people don't understand how long it takes for a player at that position to develop.

I didn't either until someone posted stats of guys at that position.

A lot of the breakouts don't even happen until year 4. You have to be some kind of Joey Bosa stud Defensive end to see big production early on.

This guy got stonewalled more than anyone last year. Props for finishing strong last year but I'd like to see a season full of consistency.

Look at it this way, TF...

If Taco gets 8-10 sacks this season, that’d be 8-10 chances to really develop that sack dance.

If he does that well, he'll be able to add quesadillas and chalupas to his repertoire.
