Jeff Heath easily. This dude is the subject of so much hate in the fan community, but he's special. Quick, plays with intensity, hits hard, finishes plays, and even occasionally kicks extra points. It's like Garrett says - he makes more plays for this team than he misses. Him beating Derek Carr to the goal line and popping him in the back and knocking that ball loose is a play I will never forget.

He is a special team stud.

Chris Jones.

He’s an actual defensive weapon. He averages over 44 yards a punt and nearly 45% of his punts are inside the 20. Not mention he’s a beast on punt coverage! Currently the most consistent high performing player on this team.

Crawford

The guy shows up game after game. He's always in the mix for most tackles, pressures, etc. I don't know if underrated is strong enough. The guy gets some flat out hatred.

He is way overpaid thats the main reason for the harsh criticism.

The GOAT

A lot of people treat him like a bum, when's he's actually a good over the top FS. So much raving about other DBs, when they actually give up a lot more and don't make the same amount of big plays. Who lead in the INTs again?

I have. Body catching is a non issue. He catches the ball regardless.
Michael Irvin was a body catcher also.
Body catching reduces your catch radius though. TW for some reason just has a knack for bad things happening in key moments.

It’s no use. The body catching issue is so big with our fanbase dropping 1-2 passes and catching 70% of the targets is worse than dropping 5 passes and catching 65% of the targets as long as you drop more passes while using your hands.

I don't recall anyone on the Cowboy's roster named "Peters". Perhaps you're thinking of someone else?

For all of the hype that the Great Wall of Dallas gets, La’el Collins probably gets the least amount of recognition. Think about it: Tyron Smith is the best left tackle in the league, Zack Martin is the best guard in the league, and Travis Frederick is the best center in the league. Even rookie left guard Connor Williams is getting a lot of attention.

That said, Collins is a pretty solid starting offensive lineman in the NFL. A former projected first-round selection originally began his career with the Dallas Cowboys as an offensive guard; however, an injury three games into his debut season forced Ronald Leary into his spot. Leary obviously departed in the following offseason, but the staff moved Collins to right tackle.

So has Heath. Heath is always around close to the action. But thats not good enough. Heck, Heath has made more plays than Crawford ever has. Yet Crawford is underrated?

I would argue Peters was having a much better season than Smith until Peters got hurt.
Once again, do you want to join in on:
Who is the most underrated player on the Dallas Cowboys?

This is the Cowboys "Fan Zone". If you're going to continually interject about your Eagles then go make a post/thread in the "NFL Zone".

Who is the most overlooked player on the roster?

***SNIP***

L.P. Ladouceur

LP Ladouceur has been with the Dallas Cowboys for well over a decade. In fact, he is now the longest-tenured player on the silver and blue roster following Jason Witten’s retirement, as former California and CFL long snapper joined Dallas in the 2005 season. Ladoceur has always been important in an area of the game that receives hardly a credit and recognition. Still, though, Les Carpenter of the Guardian called LP “the perfect player”.

Chris Jones

Chris Jones has been one of the most consistent and most reliable punters for years during his time with America’s Team. Jones always seems to come up in big spots and help the Cowboys win the field position battle — a very important stat in determining the outcome of games.

Fellow special team star, Dan Bailey, generally receives more of the hype, but Jones is among the elite at his position in his own right. Here’s one example of his ability to flip the field and pin opponents deep in their own territory:

***SNIP***

Byron Jones

From special teams to the defensive side of the ball — what about Byron Jones? The 2015 first-rounder hasn’t had a career that is going to make him an All-Pro, but Jones’ ability to make big tackles while also guarding tight ends in the middle of the field has made him a valuable component to the Cowboys.

We recently wrote on three players that have the chance to be a breakout player for the Cowboys on the defensive side. Byron was one of the choices, largely because of his success defending in the slot.

I would have to say Ezekiel Elliott. Listening to many fans on this site talk him down and seeing all of the love the other RB's got in his absence last year, Zeke has to be it. He has the skill to be the best RB in the league. I believe he is better than Gurley. I also believe Zeke will once again lead the league in rushing in 2018 and reassert his dominance as the best RB in the game.
Agree, out of sight out of mind, fans didn't see him a lot last year so attention goes to the next shiniest toy.
