This whole “forcing the ball to Dez” mantra on this site is completely overstated.

Dak in his Rookie season said himself that hes not going to force the ball to anybody and will throw it to the open man. Most of what you saw was Dez being the best option on the pass play and the QB and him not being on the same page as to ball placement.

This was after his first career game when dez had only 1 catch in a loss to a division rival...

Its overstated because Dez was by far the best receiving option and was not “force fed”.

Of course he would have the most balls thrown his way.

-Witten was washed up and not a threat for yac

-Teams took away Beasley because Dak likes the underneath throws

-Twill is inconsistent

Honestly, I didn’t want Dez gone. People seem to forget that Dak and Dez were actually really really good together in 2016 after Dez came back from
The injury.

I actually believe the issues between Dak and Dez are fixable. I know not everyone believed that, but I do think with the right coaching and play calls they could be effective together again.

Now we will never know.

Dak’s efficency dropped because he had a difficult time dealing with pressure and worse o-line play. It had nothing to do with throwing passes to Dez.

Dak's passer rating when targeting Dez Bryant last season: 71.5

Dak's passer rating when targeting Williams, Beasley, Butler, Witten, Swaim, Hanna, Elliott and Rod Smith: 95.3

I have a feeling he might be finished.

I also think Scandrick is finished too even though he found a team.

The thing is teams know what they are getting with dez and they want more than that out of a wideout. If dez was an AB or Julio then he would have been snatched up.

He is just a one trick pony jump ball guy with too many flaws.

It was always a great disservice to Dez that he was always a marginal #1 when he was younger. Now that his physicality and athleticism are fading, he's a #2 and I don't think he knows that yet.

losers should be learning the playbook instead of out vacating.

so when dak sucks again, we can't use he's not familiar with the WR's. :muttley:

When Dak sucks again the TE and WR excuse is already being dropped here and there...now if Dak is lucky one of more of our offlineman will get injured so there more excuse meat...the sky could fall Dak will still be Dak.....exactly what we saw last season .....

Dez is way better than ALL of those guys on his worst day.

Try again

Who is employed and who isn't? That should tell you all you need to know. It's mid July and still no team wants to go near that washed up trash WR. He's been delegated to a WR that will get a job after training camp injuries happen. Couldn't happen to a more overrated, selfish dude.

Let them Dish Mr. Cowboy (Dez) if his new QB is a STUD they will once again see what he can do when a capable QB is throwing the ball...............and they will understand the mistake as its pretty much the same one we made when we didn't give Romo Jobs back.....Dak-extinction baby a sign of the times in Big D.....

This season is either going to be a surprise or a fail with the receiving core. I just don't understand how they plan on retooling all of this in one offseason with a young qb.

On one hand....it can't be any worse than it was last season.......but goodness.
I don't think it could get any worse than last year. In fact I think it can only get better. I expected production from Dez, Twill, Beasely, Butler. I've seen them produce and produce well. So when they struggled last year it was a let down. I don't know these guys so I have very low expectations. If they struggle then my expectations will be met. If they produce then I'll be ecstatic. No expectations, no let down.

Our receivers have been overrated for years because of humpty dumpty, but he's gone now, I wouldn't be shocked if Williams is out of the league in 3 years.

there at least were articles talking about getting the ball to Dez more. i watched for that and the balls going his way did increase.
